Happy…. that not the point...its the mind set...being a millionaire not necessary mean he should spend all the money only for himself and his family....he can do a lot of things for the underprivileged with his money...after few yrs of lavish spending....would it really give them more happiness? But if their money can give jobs to more people or help dying people or help children study..that will definitely give them more happiness…

Then again happiness is relative…what makes me happy …may not make you happy..:) simple as that…

By driving a toyota or a ford and flying economy class if a billionaire would remain a billionaire and not otherwise then I need to understand the definition of billionaire itself ...:) And whats the point in having money and not willing to use it today but instead save it for tomorrow when the body says "please" every time I want to move it..

Formatted Soul "brit why some billionares still own ford or toyota and fly economy class?"

Because they are smart and will likely remain billionaires for a lot longer... What goes around, comes around. People who have their feet on the ground will be able to overcome anything.

For those who have their noses and feet in the air, please give them a kite and tell them to fly it. :P

Hemlata, I never said it was. It is made by having the right mindset . That does not necessarily include hard work or corruption.

By anonymous• 11 Dec 2010 15:33

Money is never made by honesty, sincerity and hard work.

It is made only by corrupt practices.

Real rich like Bill Gate helps poor. This so called corrupt rich will help them self because they are greedy.

But even then, I will make black marketer and hoarders responsible for the inflation.

The land price rise is not limited to urban but in small town also.

2G scam is worth $50 billion.

Where is the money? How it is being used by corrupt people? Buying expensive cloth?

Afterall no one will spend his hard earned money for such luxury.

By nomerci• 11 Dec 2010 15:08

Most people who have money have made an effort to gain money. Why should they not spend it on comfort? In this world nothing is for free. Sure, the rich can help the poor, but unless the poor make an effort themselves to succeed, the money given to them will bear no fruit. It is all about the mindset...only with the right mindset will one make and keep money.

This is the main reason why there are rich and poor. There are possibilities for all...but most don't know how to use these possibilities.

hemlata, the price of land is escalating because of the following reasons..

-increase in population thus increasing demands

-swelling of urban population as farming is no more considered lucrative

-price of land has to keep pace with the healthy inflation level of the country

-huge increase in salaries after 5th and 6th pay commissions of government officials thus higher purchasing power

-builders are willing to pay high to erect flats and earn even more...they are part of the mafia

the above factors drive the land price in cities whereas in the rural areas, other factors become relevant.

How much do we compromise on our wants/ desires, in the interest of so called others and share it with the same others, if it falls within our purchasing capacity.

The land prices in India are going up because the customers have higher purchasing power by which cost goes up. It goes beyond common man capacity.

You can’t think of a flat in Mumbai as there are many Ambanis who buy the land at any offer price as they have lot of black money and the seller expect the same price from others

The present India PM shows only concern on all such issues and keep silent. Inflation is highest under his regime.

By anonymous• 11 Dec 2010 11:18

hemlata, globally, the price index is determined by the overall supply and demand scenario. the purchasing power of handful of billionaires can't shift the prices in a big economy.

you are probably talking about a local scenario where a significant number of customers have high purchasing powers.

By anonymous• 11 Dec 2010 11:10

when you have the money... you think less of the prize... if it satisfies the need..or the want..

It affects the economy. Prices shoot up.

A rich man buys apple at higher then market price. Seller then expect same price from other buyers and thus the cost goes up.

This fellow may have lot of black money or taken more profit in his business.

If he's a billionaire i'm sure he had employed many people for his business..People have never ending needs, just how we want to buy a new model of mobile when in fact there are other option which is cheaper but has the same features..

It's nothing for him..Though we wish that he could have spent it for something helpful to others,we can't change the fact that it's HIS money & he has all the rights to do or buy whatever he wants..if u are a billionaire it would be hard for u to settle for less..This is understandable..Let's just pray that someday he'll share his fortune to the less fortunate..as of now, let's let him spend it the way he wants..questioning it won't change the fact that he had it already & the money was spent..

agree with oryx..the more these rich people will spend, the better will be the distribution of wealth in an economy...

there's a huge variance between the 'cost' and 'price' of such items...the difference is the wealth getting distributed to the masses.

Sadly it doesn't work that way..

Why buy a mercedes when a Corolla can do the same.. Give the savings to a worthy cause .. ??

or for the ladies .. Why buy Christian Louboutin when Bata will do :O)
