Corniche incident

hamlet
By hamlet

Yesterday on the corniche, after I had just finished running, I dragged myself to have some rest on the concrete steps behind of Belhamber restaurant (for those who don't know where is that, it is the small building that is constantly being renovated, demolished, refurbished ..etc behind the ugly huge statue of the goat carrying a torch).
Any way, as I was just preparing for few relaxing minutes that I desperately needed after being totally consumed by running, a woman wearing a black tent …oops I mean black veil, shouted at me from a distance saying "please sir, this place is only for ladies" !!! WHAT, I shouted, and in a total state of chock I told her that this is the corniche and it is PUBLIC for everyone, however she told me please leave, other women are coming now, and men are not welcomed….I thought to myself may be they want to have a lesbian orgy or something and need privacy (can't think of any good reason to be honest) and so I moved few meters away to sit away from that trouble maker women. What teased me a lot is that after about 10 minutes I found a man, yes a MAN, riding jet ski and chatting with that woman and they were both laughing and giggling. So the [women] was having a date, and she needed the privacy for that, and not save her alleged "virtuousness". I really felt like kicking her in the water so she can have a more intimate moment with her boyfriend…grrrrr

that and make it a documentry if you want too.

[The beginning, on corniche and you can hear people screaming for unknow reasons, someone is kicking the tree while the other is sleeping on the seat in the name of sports and training, somone is trying to convince his GF to get on the boat in a romantic trip [to drown her later]. Forgetr about all of this and look!! here you see DaRuDe & Hamlet walking toward Orry to drink tea, wearing their shorts and smoking, (Bad Boys)]

Ladies & Gentlemen as we can see here DaRuDe and Hamlet are looking for some trouble, trying to find a spot to sit with those two cups of tea in their hands.

[Woman]: Hey .. What are you two doing here? Can you go away for a while please?

[DaRuDe]: Why is that? We are just drinking tea and having fun watching the water.

[Hamlet]: Where is the problem in that [see, no one said the word Problem]

[Woman]: Nothing .. but let's say that the flying water would fall into your cups of tea and make it salty.

[Hamlet & DaRuDe] Oh yeah, we know what is happening here it is an old story [both are giggling].

[Woman]: What old story? What are you two talking about ? [so surprised]

[DaRuDe]: Well we are not sure, but please we want to have a talk while drinking our tea, so could you ...

[Let the action begins, will that was no action, it was horror]Tragghh Boom , Boof Boof and an unidentified objects are flying, ... and Phewww that was close ..

[King]: Hey woman ... I was just filming ... not my fault to get hit by your flying shoes ... oh my god, wait a minute what the hell was that?

[Sad Music is Playing in the Background] As we witnessed this tragedy here ... the tears are in my eyes and the pain in my heart, the summary is: One big Squid came out of nowhere [maybe was hiding behind Orry, Bad Boy Orry bad, I hate you …] to devour the three victims... Unfortunately, he blinded everyone in the crime scene with a big shot of ink so no one can take his plate number. He does not know anything about dining etiquette rules and starts eating those poor guys with no salt, fork or using spoons. Simply he finishes his meal, burped and said something stupid like: wasssup and went back to the sea!!! We met one of the guys in the crime scene and he was so upset, we will refer to him as [Sweaty_Dude][anyway he went missing by the end of the interview].

[King]: hey Champ ... did u just see what happened there?

[Sweaty_Dude]: Oh yeah man, that was disgusting geez, that freak jumped out of nowhere and did not give the guys any chance.

[King]: So you think that monster surprised them?

[Sweaty_Dude]: you bet King, he was also impolite, I mean he did not say Hi or how are you doing guy? and that makes me really so upset.

[King]: So you believe that those monsters should have some morals?

[Sweaty_Dude]: Absolutely man, sure thing that is my line !!! [his face becomes so red now and ready to blow me and all the people on corniche into pieces].

[King]: Ok man, it was nice talking to you.

[Sweaty_Dude]: The same thing is here King, wish if that thing said something before he ea...

Boom Boof Boof[someone is now having a good swim in the sea], back to our story now guys and sorry for the interruption in between :)

I'm Asking god to help their families and QL enduring the pain of losing them, DaRuDe, Hamelt and .. the Good Girl ... You will live always in our hearts , and we would never forget about … [to the end of this blah blah]

Conclusion:

- Listen to people first before make any decisions.

- Never drink tea behind Orry with QL members.

- Never interview a sweaty dudes.

- Never judge people by their appearance.

- Never trust impolite monsters.

- Never Sit beside the water, only god knows what is waiting there.

- Bad monsters always hide behind Orry.

- Bad things always happened to good people.

- Live and let die.

Loooool that's pretty funny.

She wanted privacy so used your kind heart to move you away :P

Anyway, here's a rule of thumb for visitors. If there is NO sign or no public rule, then it's NOT for women only :P

However, it's nice to be nice and give someone some privacy ^_^

edit:

I also want to mention something for those who complain about women wearing veils and then showing their body off.

yes in some cases it's hypocritical, but the veil is also traditional and fashionable to some, so if they choose to wear it, it may not entirely be religious.

I think people need to stop being so concerned with other people and start thinking about themselves.

Sure something like that would happen in Canada. She would have said please leave and you would have apologized profusely for being in a place that you had every right to be in. If you called her a name people would have been shocked and appalled and gone to her defense.

We don't shout in Canada, we kill with politeness.

Any woman in most countries can claim harassment and it is very easy to believe her, buy her story and feel sympathy towards her right away.

You know, since you are Egyptian, that if a girl screamed in the middle of the street and said "Hey he is after me and..." he will be beaten up by the masses before the police arrives.

So, this woman, in her country, used her power against a man a, but using another (unique) pattern.

Most of all, I am impressed you challenged the weather condition and went out for jogging. I am sure you felt as if you were suffocating

I was talking earlier with my friends about how we need to be cautious of heat stress. But with the start of June, my slogan changes to:

“be ware of humidity chocking while you are walking"..:)

.... you should know that very well coz you are an arab yourself. a lot of arab women are hypocrites in their feelings and the way they're acting in a crucial situation.

i can understand if a westerner, or some other nationalities that are open to having intamacy before marriage, is complaining.

.... we only heard the story of hamlet. there are two sides of the coin, so to speak.

we didn't know the whole scenario. maybe, unconsciously, hamlet was prostituting himself towards the lady. sometimes, the way we act is more powerful than the way we speak.

i hope that lady is also a member here, so that she can speak and defend herself also. lol

By lara123• 7 Aug 2007 12:06

I remember an incident in which a Moroccan lady hit my car. The police did not come to accident site because she did accept her fault over the telephone. So the police told both of us to take our cars to police station at evening.

I was surprised to see this woman covered in black attire at the station who was wearing an exposing vest and half pants at the time of accident.

Suppose she got the fine reduced.

I'm sorry Hamlet, but I have to look at it from her point of view. Who knows how much trouble she had to go to to arrange to meet the guy there, and she HAS to be covered head to toe so nobody will recognize her, and the Corniche is probably one of the only places that her parents let her go alone. I probably would have acted in a similar way.

.... just understand her. she was also having a dose of arabs' culture when it comes to meeting/befriending/socializing men.

if arab people could be more open to the concept of 'the opposite sex the opportunity of having an intimate relationship before marriage', then, you won't encounter that incident. i'm sure, she's also suffering from this whole arab concept.

i'm sure you know that coz you are also an arab guy.
