community relations groups

Hello everybody,

a true pleasure seeing a few of you last night, if only briefly. Sorry if I was a little haywire; I'd just had six pints of coke with my steak and shrimp at Chillis and was accordingly high as a kite. I felt like Keith Moon.

I've been thinking a great deal about the racist dialogue that sometimes rears its ugly head on QL. It is of course in part reflective of the lack of cross-community understanding and friendship that occurs in Qatar in general.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any organisations that worked to to try and bridge such gaps and foster better relationships between the different nationalties and social groups in Doha.

Be lucky,

Joe.

what has NGO's got to do with this?

We dont have that many NGO's in this part of the world ... but it would help if NGO's open here

Erm, yeah that's precisely my point. Those capable of showing less 'civility' towards others that I've met in Doha are very definately from cities, not villages. But of course not everyone from cities is the same in this regard.

But yeah: this is what I'm saying. There's so little understanding about other people's cultures and outlooks and so little dialogue between communities that Qatar has become a perfect breeding ground for bigotry.

Anyone know of any groups that are trying to address this?

not all vilagers are like that i said only @ssholes who come out of their village ... a village is just a pun its like they r living in a shell and its the first time they have got the chance to come out of their shelln mingle with a cross section of international crowd

tcom you mean to say people from villages are less civilised than the ones from towns and cities?

Stealth: Happy to, but explain what exactly?

T Coffee or me: completely agreed. QL does a great job in this regard. But of course only a tiny fraction of Doha's residents are users. I think it would be great if people started getting together and addressing some of these problems in the local community.

QL is trying its best to bridge this gap but some times some @ss holes like Marko200016 comes along but we know that these people re just some frustrated ppl who have come out of their village and as such dont know how to behave in an international community.. we are trying to sway the minds of these type of ppl
