Come on....Admit it.....

I have just read another thread about the whole Asian, Indian, EU ian "racist" dynamic here in Qatar. Where your remuneration here is perceived to be based on passports, accents and body odors.

I don't like these debates. If any one goes through the responses with on objective mind set you will see real racism.

Fundamentally nearly all of us are here because one way or the other this place offers us a lifestyle and income that we could not get back home. Whether that's a 40,000 riyal income, barely enough to pay your mortgage and your kids boarding school fees, or its the oft referenced 4,000 that allows you to send home 1000 to support yr family.

Come on. Admit it.

I truly believe that one's compensation in Qatar is based neither on skin color or the color of one's passport, but on where you have received your degrees and education from. And no, we are not in Qatar "for the money." We also truly believe we are helping the younger generation of Qataris prepare for their lives on the world stage.

I don't think anyone hides the fact that they're here for the better money. I'm not sure why you think they do.

LMAO Flan.. hhmm... It's the tax free salary that entice me in coming here. More cash in my pocket rather than the pocket of corrupt politician back home.

Cheers

Heard your wife left you,

How upset you must be.

But don't fret about it...

She moved in with me.

Malvolio, yes, MOST are here for the superior lifestyle/income, but sadly not ALL, as you realised...

Voyageress,

I wish you could agree with me too. Its that commonality that I wanna touch. It would be interesting to know what your aims and aspirations are from living in Qatar if it is hitting yr bottom line.

Alexa,

Time is money. If coming to Qatar will fast forward your financial plans then you are in the right place.

JunX,

Right...Got it this time

nadt,

Exactly...

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;

courage to change the things I can;

well financially we were earning pretty much the same as qatar but the god damn governments hands were so deep in our pockets that we hardly saw any of it. Thank god for qatars no tax system here as weve been able to save and pay off a great amount of money of our morgage, so yeah thank you qatar.

My island isn't listed so I plumped for the one that sounded like a similarly picturesque tax haven. Seriously tho, there've been a few surprises about moving here but I'm an eternal optimist...

Wish I could agree with you but we are actually much worse off (financially) since moving to Qatar! But, it's an interesting "experience" nonetheless ;-)

MD, I'm so happy that everybody's happy! Keep on being happy and making others happy!

stress_in_babel, bravo. I am here with no money, but I am happy. And there are people who are happy that I'm here.

Alexa and JunX,

Na uh. Not soo easy. Admit that you couldn't achieve the same back home, that s the point I am trying to make.

If we can all do that then in essence we really are all the same.
