One of the problem here sometimes you will not be able to get justice for such a thing or other issues, if you go to police and complain they will discourage you and the worst thing is if you cant speak Arabic they will not entertain you and most worst is they will ignore you and ask you to leave with a loud voice ... "YALLLAAAHH ROWW""

I have this impression that as Expat we are not fully safe and protected here. so better to avoiv such hassles and problems

It seems that you were dealing with an expatriate middleman and not the local house owner, which is a mistake. However you need to find out the contact of his local sponsor (his house or Majlis) and speak/meet with him in the evening.

In most of the cases, the sponsors tend to extend their help by pushing the guy to make an amicable settlement.

The process of filing a case and how the people get handled is surely amazing. In a country which employs people who do not know arabic are asked to speak and know arabic when they need help from the law. Great!!!

i too have been in the same situation.

police did not entertain. said go to the court.

at court its tough as you need to know arabic. reps taking down the compliant discourage me from doing so saying it was a waste of time.

i pursused and they asked me for a lot of arabic information like the 'companies name in arabic' which i could never get hold of.

i had to let it go.. lost 4,500 out of my 11,000 deposit paid to a very well know real eastate company

Sad to know i was being robbed and couldent do anyting about it

Nearly 75% of House owners in Doha are doing like that. Better dont pay the last month rent when you planned to vacate. Ask them to tally from your Advance.

Here no justice for poor people.

It was happened to my freind too, but when we went to police station, they said we need to go to the court, file the case and get/pay for the laywer for 4 consecutive meetings or hearings...per meeting cost of 1500 according to them, with total of 6K and that was the procedure according to them....OMG...the cost of cheque (security or deposit) was 3500 only. Meaning fees for laywer are costly than advance or cheques amount...???

It is true many of the house agents make use of your desperate needs . I am sure you must have paid him as you were desperate to get a accomodationon time.

All i suggest is just forget it as you know this man had planned to cheat you and he will not pay you back and consider that this man has pickpocketed you .

It is not worth running after a CHEAT, when you were so submissive.

God bless

Why not just go to the police and file a case ?
