ought this cat for around 800-900 riyals. I'm selling it for 600 riyals but the price is negotiable.
The cat is extremely playful. He likes to jump around and run around. Sometimes he likes to bite as he plays but one just has to be strict with him during those moments. He is a male after all, and the veterinary we visited told us that male cat's are usually a lot more hyperactive than female cats.
The cat is a hunter. A mix of a Persian and perhaps Somali. This is a guess.
He is beautiful and cuddly too. LOVES TO EAT!
He has been tested for Toxoplasma and the result turned out negative alhamdulillah. He is NOT sick.
He has also been vaccinated for worms as that is a must when you get a cat.
This is a clean cat, ready to be taken care of.

end of discussion. We are not on the same line of discussion.
I have kitties for adoption.. they are 2 months old... PM to me if someone is interested..
Flor, come off it, their maids will do everything for the cat, can you really see a local changing a kitty litter tray?!
Do they give rare breeds or toy dogs(I mean the little dogs that looks like toys)for adoption in QAWS? I doubt it... As I have been told, they only offer homeless dogs from industrial area for adoption. How about the rare breeds and these little beautiful dogs? They keep them for themself or export them for sale?:)
By the way, is it totally free of charge to adopt a dog in QAWS?
the whole time it's in their possession? Cleaning the litters, cleaning the shreads, the annoying furs left on furnitures and everywhere, etc etc. Giving foods, wiping the moth or bathing the pets?
What is not hard?
flor1212 - they all had maids carrying their cats, so no hardship there
when they see a beautiful cat? They will not stop until they can have one. Because what they see pleases their eyes. 1 or 2 days, when they started to realize the "difficulty" or "mess" a pet can do, then they will start to dislike it.
How many locals stops on us when we do our nightly walks just to inquire if we are willing to sell our dog, almost daily, but I will tell the parents, it looks cute now to you but once it's already in your possession and do the maintenance, then it will be a different story. AND that's what they don't know.
Flor121 - I do beg to differ on the buyers being mostly expats, if my experience yesterday was anything to go by.
As I waited in the vets for a while with my sick cat yesterday, every single cat that was brought in for treatment was a pedigree and owned by a local (about 6 or so in the space of 30 mins), they were very cute cats but I cannot imagine a local adopting a sorry old moggy.
I just think that people should be more aware that there are a lot of needy cats that need a home, not the pampered pedigrees
But yes, there is really a problem of stray cats. But creating awareness to the locals should start in schools. The old generations we know tends to hate the pets. It is the children who wants it and where did they learn it? And who teaches in the schools?
It is the same thing with awareness of the danger of speed driving but what are we seeing in actual?
Compare the magnitude of awareness that needs to inculcate the young ones (who wanted the pets in the first place), expect it to be hard here as you know how they see having a pet here.
Most of these buyers are also expats.
BE - this is a monumental problem here in Qatar, I have never seen so many unwanted strays anywhere else I have travelled to and I have been to rural SE asia!
(There are currently at least 5 unneutered stray toms just around my house, I never encountered this at home)
Also, if you take other parts of the world, they have a well set up system of charities and organisations who can take in unwanted pets/strays, there is very little here. When I asked for QAWS help with the sick Kitten I found, they turned me away, I know of no cat organisation that would refuse to take in a very sick animal in UK.
For those that want evidential proof (for those that doubt every word I say) - you can look back over my topics and questions and see when I asked QL for help with the kitten a few months back (BTW I got none then too)
But haven't stray cats always been around - anywhere in the world ?
Flor, I suppose there ought to be more awareness of the stray cats we have in Qatar and more support for animal welfare societies (please note that I cannot call them charities, they are not allowed to become charities) and it is rather sickening that people are willing to throw thousands of riyals away buying these pedigree cats when they could help the sick and stray that abound Doha for a fraction of the cost.
In point of fact I was at a vets yesterday with my cat and there was a sign begging for money to help QAWS pay their unpaid bill with the vets.
just think something is out of whack somewhere.
trade of domesticated cats? Is selling a violation of any law?
There is a lot of difference between animal welfare here and in UK. UK has well organised animal charities that can by and large manage abandoned animals but QAWS is overwhelmed. I rescued a ver sick kitten in my back garden a few months back and contacted QAWS, they said they could not help they already had too many, so I had to foot the vets bill, which cost a fortune and then pay them to house the cat till I HAD found the kitten a home. So it rather sticks with me that people will gladly pay for a pedigree but if it isn't one, tough luck you will get little help from anyone else.
At CATS IN QATAR, there are currently 60+ cats waiting to be re-homed, that doesnt include those in foster homes. I have 2 cats in my care.
How about the numbers of cats in QAWS?
The 6 to 10 stray cats around the compound where I live inlcudes a 2 persian cats, 1 egyptian cat, and mixed breeds. Some still have collars but aloof.
Where do these cats come from? Either they escaped, they got lost or got dumped by their owners.
And still more wants to sell these animals to unresponsible people like toys. Having pets is a responsiblity that people don't seem to understand. The sellers doesnt really care who buys them...that's the point.
Not to forget...those cute little kittens, which are sold for a fortune, need dedicated care...which a lot of people do not seem to want to give...they aget bored, they don't want to spend the money that is needed...and then! DUMP the pet!
Go to those FB websites, talk to some people...and spread the word!
Indeed Brit...the selling IS the problem! Cats are sold for breeding...and you know what happens? People get overwhelmed with all those cute little kitties...and what? They dump them! And my friends, those dedicated rescuers, pick them up, and desperately try to find homes for them...AFTER they paid out of their own pockets for the treatment of those cats.
ADOPT, don't SHOP! And sterilize your pets!
There is no-one questioning the sheer hard work and dedication of the volunteers and organizations such as QAWS. They have my total respect and admiration.
The discussion was about selling of animals ..
If all of you who make fun of this saw some of the things the people who try to help abandoned cats here in Qatar, you would soon sing a different tune.
Sadly, these people have to work quietly..never the less diligently to help those poor creatures.
Kudos to them!
Do Persian Cats come from the Persian Gulf ?
who is not there? The cat?
anymore!
I haven't been to the Dubai Zoo UK. I have heard horrible things about it though. I have to say the wildlife park in Al Ain is quite nice (especially as many of their animals are rescues).
No, I'm not a member of PETA. I like steak too much. :)
I see many cats near my flat, but they are all stray ones. Persian cats are very pretty but I'm not a cat person. I once saw a Persian cat in a cage in one of the pet shops and it was a horrible sight as it was so dirty, i just wanted to free it!! There was also a small puppy in a small cage. How can these shops be so cruel to animals like this?
Interesting idea.. Ofcourse , if Miss Mimi joins PETA, then she would have to do a photo shoot :o)
let's vote Miss Mimi for president. are you a member of PETA?
Miss Mimi Doha Zoo is 25 times bigger than the Dubai Zoo, at least I can say that Area wise Doha Zoo is much bigger however the Area of the Enclosures is always debatable
Brit, as long as the breeders are ethical then I don't really have a problem. The issue is all the ones that don't employ ethics to their breeding and create "puppy mills" and the vast majority of store bought pure breds come from puppy mills.
If you really want a pure bred you need to do your research and search out a good breeder. NOT the animal souk or Qatarliving!
OK , let's ban them. Then we can ban Dog and Cat shows and close down breeding farms etc :o)
"So , there is no harm in breeders / owners selling them."
You mean besides the inbreeding right?
Risks, I would love to demolish the Doha Zoo and move the animals to a place where they actually have space to move!
Uk, I haven't heard of that part of Canada. Must be very far north.
Britexpat please join the Que, The Parrot that you are referring to belongs to Chocoholic!
Isn't Polyandry Miss Mimi's pet parrot ?
Miss Mimi please impose your will on me..I am always ready! Did I hear that in certain part of Canadian Culture Polyandry is allowed?
I would agree that people should go to RSPCA, Battersea Dogs Home, QAWS etc as a first resort. However, many animals like Manx, Persian, Poodles etc are rare and especially bred at cost. So , there is no harm in breeders / owners selling them.
why not demolish Doha Zoo and free all the animals ? ....:)
"theres always a market there. so why ban selling it? If theres no problem in people giving away their pets for free, why should there be a hue and cry if someone is selling it?"
Funny, I think I've heard the same argument from drug dealers.
Because people buy them, rather than adopt Brit. Yes, all pets should be free.
I didn't impose my will on anyone Flor. Where in the world did I "impose my will"?
theres always a market there. so why ban selling it? If theres no problem in people giving away their pets for free, why should there be a hue and cry if someone is selling it?
MM, are you imposing your will to everyone?
Then why do pet shops here and breeders sell animals. By your logic, all pets should be free.
I'd say anyone willing to pay is looking for a trophy, not a pet.
I can understand a ban by QL. However, I do not agree that ALL sales of animals are of such a nature. I have a colleague here in the UK who sold a Persian. His reason - anyone willing to pay is more likely to WANT a pet ..
No. Democracy is: Democracy is an egalitarian form of government in which all the citizens of a nation together determine public policy, the laws and the actions of their state, requiring that all citizens (meeting certain qualifications) have an equal opportunity to express their opinion.
How does selling overbred cats on QL have anything to do with democracy? If anything the rule about NOT selling them comes from the overwhelming disgust most people feel about having a hand in selling these poor creatures. Therefore, the majority spoke. However, even that is stretching it.
democracy?
The issue with allowing pet sales on QL is that you are inadvertently promoting the breeding of these poor animals. Most Persians in Qatar are horribly sick, suffer from major issues due to too much inbreeding, etc. Selling one for 650 AED means the guy selling it can probably go buy 3 or 4 more kittens and sell them.
Clownfish: However bashing other countries, nationalities, cultures, name calling and bullying others is absolutely fine.
Rule No-3 :D :D :D
there is... according to the QL advertising rules. Rule number 2
Adverts involving the sale or trade of pets and animals will be deleted.

No Britexpat. Absolutely nothing wrong.
Getting back to the topic.. Is there really anything wrong. I have seen similar ads in the UK.
I don't see anything wrong with it.
So what if he/she wants to sell his/her cat? Go to souq waqif and you will see not just cats for sale there..
I dont see anything wrong about it.
Oh well, to each his own.
to a loving couple who have a male Persian cat. Why? Fiance is allergic to cat hairs. :(
I found 2 stray Persina cats and found forever homes for them too.
If the guy bought it for QAR2000...and wanted to sell it for mere 650...there must be a problem.
There is CATS IN QATAR who could help find a forever home for it. Or QAWS perhaps...or 2nd Chance Qatar>
Well I'm not sure but for sure it has a price.
You are lucky Rizks, they will drink your karak chai.
Nope Ukeg, i dont hav coz m leaving in a flat !
But usually feed the cats i see on the street with pappadum and jalebis...:)
Rizks now back to the Cats! Do you have any Cats?
I have a guinea pig! so no felines in my household for now!
UkEng, Shhhhhshhhh!
Silenze or i Keel You ! :)
Rizks You mean Booty?
Lol UK, we usually go there to buy boots ! :)
There are plenty of things that you can buy here in Qatar, Just ask Rizks and Brit who frequent the Ramada Car park.
Initially I thought it was a Car Boot sale in that Car park that Brit&Rizks used to go to, found out later that they went to but something else!
Ram that so encouraging so how much would someone like Rizks cost? I mean the one like in Risks Avatar picture!
I remember in the movie "Indecent proposal"
a buyer asked the real state agent about a certain house, and she said "This house is not for sale"
He replied "Everything is for sale, and everything is having a price"
In our world now, even human being are being sold so no wonder that a CAT would be listed for sale.
Isn't that Mutley ?
I am actually looking for a four legged friend who has the same face as above in Riskz Avatar picture!
Usually such ads are already taken care of the moderators and hence get deleted !
both the above links have been oops.
Anyway Azi, how can he give away for free when he must've paid up to QR2000 for one of those Cats!
lol, now pimping a cat eh?
