Can I sponsor my husband?

Good morning QLers!

Well here it goes: I am currently under my husband' sponsorship but my husband is having issues with his job as his company might close its operations in Doha.

So I was thinking: If I change my sponsorship to be under my company, will I be able to move my husband under my sponsorship (reverse my current situation), up until he finds another job?

We are happy here, I want to do my best to stay!

Thanks,

Thank you all so much for your precious input and tips.

I was wondering: do you have the phone numbers of the immigration depart.? or should I go there? and where is it located?

Thanks again,

Doing it as individual depnds on individual circumstances and who you know, but companies can get blanket immigration appoval. Employers like Aspetar and HMC both have authority for their female staff to familiy sponsor husbnds and children up to 3 years. I think the cut off salary wise is just over QR4000 a month.

...but i expect that has more to do with his nationality as i earn more than the amount stipulated. i think it's worth phoning up and asking the immigration department first. in the end, we brought my husband here on a visit visa and then tried to find a job for him so that he could be sponsored by them instead. otherwise, it might not make sense to go through all the bureaucracy of transferring your sponsorship.

be prepared for the immigration dept though...i was put through to all the various deptartments and then had one of their officials laughing at me as he 'couldn't understand why a British woman would be married to a Nepali'.

good luck!

yes my husband was under mine for over a year. It really depends on how much you earn.

I am sponsored by my wife (3 year residents permit) but it took a lot of effort to do. The first two applications were rejected and the third only went through because we were luckily enough to know someone who knew someone who had authority.

Since then I've seen a couple of news articles, the first saying that women would no longer be able to sponsor men whatever the circumstances (originally it was supposedly done on a case by case basis), then one saying that this had to be changed in order to keep ex-pats here.

So I'm not sure what the current situation is I'm afraid. I would suggest you get sponsored by your company and start the application to sponsor your husband asap, but remember that there is no guarantee that they will let you sponsor him.

Depending on his nationality he will be able to go onto a tourist VISA once he leaves his company which will buy you some time but it will mean that he will have to leave the country every now and then.

But as with most situations here it is difficult to know what the right information is. Get your company to help as much as possible.

did''t understand right ? it depends on your company status and strictly upon your salary - if your monhly sal is above 6000/- QR or so - you might be eligibel to do so . . but ofcourse not a permanent visa - you will be able to provide him a visiting visa for 6 month s to 1 yr ( and renewabel again ) check with the immigration dept that'z the best way or talk with your comapny manthoop ( P.R.O )

Good Luck my friend

My cousin is doing the same way - - -!!!!!!!!!!
