Calling all Brits (and other ALE drinkers)

Any of you out there like me enjoy a pint of ALE over lager??
QDC are apparently not selling ale as fast as they would like. Surely I cannot be the only one who would enjoy and increased range of proper beer?
CAMRA in Qatar?

I feel that ale is much better than lager , it has a much finer aroma , and it is much better when serving with friends, and I have taste quite a few Beer of the month from different sources.

There is a nice game with this bottle, the marble tip which goes inside the bottle can be chopped off with one finger. Put the with top on its side on top of the bottle, the tip now rests on the top of the bottle. Stick out one finger and hit it as hard as possible on the tip, if done correctly... it will fly off. If done incorrectly, usually after a couple of beers, you'll rip open your finger and spend an hour or 2 in the restroom, bleeding like hell. HAVE FUN!!

OK, if we are talking fizzy pop:

Beer Lao. Brewed to german purity standards ... by a Frenchman!

http://www.beerlao.la/eng/main.php

From Sri Lanka - 3 Coins Dark Irish (Still technically a lager)

and from Singapore - home of (at least) 3 excellent brew pubs:

http://www.archipelagobrewery.com/

and

http://www.brewerkz.com/

and

http://www.pumproomasia.com/

These are some of the best beers I've tasted ... Ever!

Well Gada,

I refer to quantity as there must be a reason for these beers to be available around the globe, which may very well be that it appeals to the average consumer. Not just because it is being mass-produced.

But indeed, it all boils down to taste.

Where Brit Expat thinks a Cordon Blue is the most luxury piece of meat available (because it sounds French?), I could think of some others tongue pleasing pieces of delight. :-P

@ Harmagedon, you're confusing me now mate...we talking quaNtity or quaLity??...your list of 'best selling beers by volume',with the slight exception of the corona & the heineken,i wouldn't serve to my dog mate...beer? that list is more like piss water...as opposed to your personal favourite list except for foster's,made in Oz & they hate the stuff that should tell you enough about that one,i personally think it's pretty shite too, castle is so-so,not worthy of a 'top 10' mention, but that's just my opinion, corona is for non-beer drinkers who occasionally indulge it,again my opinion but the rest are nice beers,i understand why you rate grolsch #1,it's a really nice beer...cheers!

I know...

Fosters is popular abroad, yet not in Australia, but to be found around the world, just like Becks. Heineken well, I hate it, give me Grolsch, yet also worldwide to be found.

There must be a valid reason why your beloved Ale and Lager are not as successful abroad? Oh yes...

And a Cordon Blue, Brit... if that is the most 'luxury' piece of meat you can name, your indeed better of at McDonalds.

Anyway, a list of best selling beers by volume:

1. Bud Light (38.8)

2. Budweiser (26.1)

3. Miller Lite (17.7)

4. Coors Light (15.2)

5. Natural Light (8.3)

6. Corona Extra (7.6)

7. Busch (6.6)

8. Busch Light (5.8)

9. Miller High Life (5.0)

10. Heineken (4.7)

Also interesting, even though outdated...

Fosters! You are taking the piss aren't you? Even the Aussies don't drink that!

Now Boags, Cascade, Coopers, and Tooheys Old, they are decent Aussie beers.

@ britexpat,i 2nd that mate...Harmagedon my friend, going solely by the brands you've listed,it's quite obvious there's a LOT you haven't tried in terms of beers,be it lager, ales or pilsners...the UK as does the rest of Europe has some wonderful beers...the shite stuff is what comes from North America, not all of it of course, but most of it...becks & fosters? really mate,i'm @ a loss for words here...LOL :)...

Beer that hails from the UK, or the entire island, is rubbish.

There is a good reason for English Soccer Hooligans being notorious, it is because they are used to low percentage alcohol beer and as soon as they cross the Channel, they get confronted with real beer. This is what makes them go mad. Hence, British hooligans do not riot because of soccer, but because they are upset because they never knew beer tasted that good, and this pisses them off.

Guinness, Coca Cola with beer taste, made it across the Channel. The rest... sewage water.

British people, there is a good reason why the masses drink Becks, Heineken, Stella, Fosters - because it is REAL QUALITY BEER.

never read so much utter twoddle in my life.!!!

These days lagers are as strong, if not stronger thanthe so-called real ale, that we get here in bottles. Although i suspect its not real if the fermentation process is killed off and the stuff's bottled.!!

and by the way, speaking as someone who was, and still is a Londonder, i dont know a city anywhwere in the world where you can buy litterally millions of differant ales/and ciders from all over the world. The sad thing is that the people who write this garbage hail from clog wearing pigeon keeping , whippet n mushy peas eating country where "Mild "is sold, which is just another word for North West Water.!!

quite true, I was a londoner and until fairly recently had stuck to my lagers (more the nice continental stuff though) but have got in to ales (and Guinness) a bit more over the last few months. Thing is though, with hot weather you want a nice chilled lager, it just goes better.

@ Rizks, why comment just for the sake of it mate?...@ emgee,to be honest i enjoy a pint(or 4) of both Ale & Lager...unfortunately,this isn't exactly the best town in the world for beer drinkers per se now is it mate?...QDC/hotel bars haven't a clue in terms of range or keeping it fresh, chilled to optimum temperature etc,etc so i just make do which is a sad state of affairs but that's just the way it is...This town is full of 'mature' drinkers who consider beer something you got pissed on when you were drinking it @ 17,so...

Meanwhile across the desert in Dubai,in 2 weeks time, http://www.theirishvillage.ae/news/68/ ...& i can't take any leave this month...life is indeed unfair...
