The 60-minute documentary titled Sri Lanka's Killing Fields: War Crimes Unpunished is now ready to be shown

The documentary shot in Sri Lanka will be aired on Channel 4 this week in the UK. The film also shows a 12-year-old lying dead with five bullet holes in his chest

Sri Lankan officials have rejected the claims - both in the new documentary and in another last year that also aired on Channel 4 - that the end of their country's 26-year-long civil war included atrocities that catalogue unimaginable war crimes against the island's Tamils and the killings and brutality was a lot worse then what was seen in Libya and now in Syria

..and do you have any information about sarath Fonseka, the then army chief who was going to spill out all the evil deeds comitted by the Lankan leadership. He seems to have been locked up more for facing up to this brothers then for any crimes. Looks like the rajapakse brothers have made lying a national pastime and a trade mark now for export to other foreign shores.

Rajapakse Brothers had the backbone not to crave in to western terror sysmphatizers and eradicate the terror menance in sri lanka once and for all. The british FM and French FM who came begging for the life of terrorists were shown the door during the last days of war

COLOMBO — Sri Lanka is illegally holding hundreds of detainees who are vulnerable to torture and execution, Amnesty International said Tuesday in a report urging UN support for a probe into alleged war crimes.

The 63-page document entitled “Locked away: Sri Lanka’s security detainees,” said arbitrary and illegal detention and enforced disappearances were routine in Sri Lanka, where rights abuses “go uninvestigated and unpunished.”

“The LTTE had a horrific record of abuse, including killing and imprisoning its critics, but that did not, and does not, excuse the widespread and systematic mistreatment of detainees by the Sri Lankan government,” said Sam Zarifi, Amnesty International’s Asia-Pacific Director.

The Amnesty report was published in Geneva where Sri Lanka is currently seeking to head off a US move to censure Colombo at the UN Human Rights Council.

“The message coming from the Sri Lankan government is that those who dare criticise it risk harassment or even disappearance,” he said.

Amnesty said former detainees had been harassed, re-arrested and physically attacked.

He added that the war crimes alleged in Sri Lanka in the final stages of the war were “of such magnitude” that they risked undermining international justice mechanisms if unchallenged.

..and what happened to the then Lankann army chief sarath fonseka. This rajapakse brothers used the guy during the war and then made up false accusations and lies against the guy and had him put in jail where I suppose he is still held now

I hope there will be a day when we will call Syrian rebellions terrorists, turn a blind eye to Military brutality of the regime & call it equals.........Will that happen?..Actually, it may. Ask Asaad & Ahmednizad to bow down in front of Uncle Sam & it will happen.

Tamil LTTE terrorists killed over 150 Muslims while praying in the Mosques, they killed buddhist monks, Muslims were evicted within 24 hours from North. They have been still living in refugee camps since 21 years. Where is justice gone. Now why are they talking about this fabricated things. All these video are lie. Ater war people from these areas are living peacfully & happily now including Tamils.

The crimes the LTTE committed against us Sri Lankans(which include Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims, Burghers, etc)definitely outnumbers all those war crimes,Allahu alam. I'm not saying there were no war crimes, as Tinker pointed out both sides had their share of evil and atrocities. Today the war maybe over but I can say there must be hardly any Lankans who remain untouched by all those years of horror. Honestly to date the sound of air planes flying at night gives me the creeps(memories of the air raids) as do sudden loud explosions. Only those of us who lived through it all can, at least to a certain extent, understand how and why things happened the way they did!

Do Shri lankans have oil? Will dethroning Singhalese make US & UK richer? If not, then UN does not see any human right violation there. You see, this kind of violence is their culture. Atrocities has been committed from both the sides. Why don't these wise people understood that in Libya or now in Syria? ..........Bigots........!

to good old joe, i dont think any such video might make difference in our country, all of us are so blind folded (by media) that we ourselves don't understand what's happening, the war is ended but now crimes are taking the place of war now...

Both sides committed atrocities. Do we bring people to task now or move on?

Chairboy,

I disagree with your comment (only to that comment) that the posts in QL should have impact or connection with Qatar. There are plenty of threads coming in QL which has got no connection with the life in Qatar. Many QL members are expats and they will of course post threads which are related to their home contries and there is no restrictions in the guide lines for posting such threads. If you feel that the thread has no connection to Qatar or the life in Qatar and is not interested please skip the thread for those who are interested to comment.

And this impacts Qatar how precisely??

Are QTel now providing a link to Channel 4??

Is this now Tamil Living??

Another puerile post..................that has no bearing on life in Qatar.

"...and the killings and brutality was a lot worse then what was seen in Libya and now in Syria" - says who....you??? Who are you to judge??
