Broken Britain - Mum of 13 Kids

Broken Britain! This one is not a assylum seeker, religious nut or immigrant.. She's "one of our own" :O(

A MUM who has had 13 children is pregnant with her 14th - even though ALL her kids have been taken into care.

Last night brazen baby machine Theresa Winters, 36, vowed to carry on having children until social workers let her and jobless partner Toney Housden, 36, keep ONE.

Defiant Theresa, who lives on benefits in Luton, Beds, declared: "We're not giving up. For every child they take away from me, I'm going to have another one."

ALL the children were taken into care by social workers who had grave concerns about neglect and "lack of parenting ability" demonstrated by Theresa and her jobless partner Toney Housden.

But the couple, who admit they had problems and could be "aggressive" in the past, insist they are now capable of raising a youngster.

And Theresa, 36, said: "We just want to be a family. I won't stop until they let me keep one."

Last night the couple's actions were branded "scandalous" and "outrageous" by critics.

And pressure group the Taxpayers' Alliance called Theresa "extremely irresponsible" as it emerged the cost of the care has run into MILLIONS of pounds - paid from the public purse.

Theresa and Toney, 36, live in a one-bedroom council flat outside Luton, Beds, on benefits totalling £1,100 a month.

Both smoked throughout their interview with The Sun despite Theresa's pregnancy.

Several of her children were born with disabilities.
But all have been legally adopted except a boy now aged 14 who has cerebral palsy. He remains in foster care which has cost an estimated £2.3million over the past ten years.

Both Theresa and Toney have been accused of being violent towards children but have never been arrested.
Theresa said: "Back when I was 19 I was aggressive but never towards the kids. I told them off as any normal person would. I shouted at them but I never hit them.

...The problem of this couple is joblessness...

Well there in lies the problem Brit, taking the issue up with the courts would require brain power.

Dirk Pitt... My hero.. I love his car collection and the way he saved the world from the plague in "Sahara"..

Leading on - This type of people are a plague on society also. Whilst i agree that social workers can sometimes go over the top, for this couple to resort to such extremes shows an imbalance of brain fluids..

Rather than continue producing, they should rest and take the issue up with the courts..

SAMAEL, and how do you know this? Just cause it's not reported doesn't mean it doesn't occur.

Pregnant one? That's a tough one!!

Well, while we're on the subject why not also sterilise men who father 10 or more kids without the ability to take care of them. Let's start there :)

There are shots, the problem is that they aren't 100% effective and many women experience adverse reactions to them.

They also have to be re-done every 5 years.

"Really you would need something that's a shot to sterilize you and a shot to un-sterilize you.... "

They could find a way to do this already, surely, or something similar.

And vasectomies are reversible. I'm sure they could come up with a female equivalent.

I think that might happen a lot more then you think desertnubian. After my brothers biological mum gave birth to her 3rd kid (which was taken from her immediately) they gave her an "emergency hysterectomy"

SAMAEL, "Does she even Realise that if she continues this her body WILL wear out on her and kill her and/or the next poor newborn to come along". Not necessarily, wasnt there a Canadian lady who gave birth to like 21 kids.

I'd be way against sterilisng her against her will. But tallg's idea of a parenting license...governments really should look into it.

A person who does not speak out against the wrong is a mute devil.

Or they could just give her an "emergency Histerectomy" after she gives birth to the next child and not tell her.

Not without surgery...and surgery isn't really easily reversable. Really you would need something that's a shot to sterilize you and a shot to un-sterilize you....

By tallg• 30 Jul 2009 09:46
tallg

I'm sure that in this day and age of medical marvels you could easily could sterilise everyone at birth and then reverse it once they've passed the test and acquired the license.

There's just no way society would allow it.

By tallg• 30 Jul 2009 09:43

I'll put that on my reading list Samael, thanks.

By Gypsy• 30 Jul 2009 09:43

I don't think its that they find it acceptable, I think there's just no workable way to sterilize people. You can't just drug people and drag them into surgery.

Making the existence of these children possible just to live in misery with these parents is unspeakable.

These parents are sick and they needed help. Another government intevention is necessary to straighten them up - rehab program, counselling and the like. With the kind of mentality they have, they may not be honestly aware of their shortcomings.

Does she even Realise that if she continues this her body WILL wear out on her and kill her and/or the next poor newborn to come along.

People like this really do stun me, i can't believe someone would be so selfish.

Sorry not to bring it off topic or anything, tallg, you read Plague Ship by Clive Cussler? it might interest you regarding the sterilization thing, it's quite interesting.

Yes, unfortunately society finds it more acceptable for people to have children they are completely inadequate to look after, than to stop them having children in the first place. Go figure.

By Gypsy• 30 Jul 2009 09:23
Gypsy

Ya I know tallg. I can't think of a way to do it either. You can force women to take the pill, you can tie their tubes or give guy vasectomys....

By tallg• 30 Jul 2009 09:21
tallg

Yes Gypsy, that would be the hardest part to implement in my Parent Licensing Scheme - actually preventing people from reproducing. There might be a bit of a backlash over that bit!

Is there any way to put them in prison?

"Ali Baba and 40 thieves" are now "Ali Baba and 30 thieves" ; 10 were laid off.

By Gypsy• 30 Jul 2009 09:18

Because it's a huge can of worms. You can't force people to be sterilized, sadly they have every right to do what they're doing :(

I can't underestand why the council can't step in and take legal action against the idiots..
