Woman among four held for assault and robbery

Police have arrested a British woman and three men - two Americans and one Dutch - on charges of assaulting an African national and robbing him of his personal belongings, says a report in the Arabic daily Arrayah.
The incident occurred last July when the Ethiopian who works for a money exchange house received a call from the woman requesting him to meet her outside a restaurant in the Old Salata area on the pretext of making a bank remittance.
He did not have any inkling that it was going to be a planned physical assault on him.
He met her and got into her car but was shocked to find two others on the back seat.
After driving for a short while the two men began to hit him violently. They stopped the car and pulled him out and robbed him of his wallet and mobile phone.
Then one of them caught hold of his neck while the other hit him with a bottle on his head. He fell unconscious and they left.
Fortunately some passers by noticed him and called the ambulance and police. He was rushed to the Hamad Hospital and was given timely medical care. After coming around he gave a graphic description of the people who assaulted him.
Based on his information officers of the criminal investigation and follow-up department in the Ministry of Interior arrested the woman who disclosed the identities and location of the other culprits including the Dutch national who is accused of helping in planning the assault.

Nomerci.. yeah right.. First you accept this news and source.. then we continue

and see who really loses... ;)

nomerci

DC, indeed, that's what I meant by "white collar " crimes.

And I do not think they are less serious, just of a different nature than the one discussed in this thread.

Hence my question about the names of those people..as this just does not quite fit...

By anonymous• 6 Mar 2012 19:56

agree with nomerci, highly paid westerns in Qatar don’t need to involve in such serious criminal offenses ,that doesn’t mean Western Expats in Qatar are not doing other forms of (soft crimes)

2 yrs ago 3 top Western Executives were sacked from their jobs for theft and inappropriate spending of company’s resources.

By nomerci• 6 Mar 2012 18:47

Captain Lost..I rest my case.:P

Once you can substanciate your claims, we can continue. :)

So far,you really have lost ;)

By Captain_Lost• 6 Mar 2012 18:14
Captain_Lost

Oh well.. you are not ready to accept the one we posted right here in front of you and as big as your head.. what other substances i can expect you to believe.. :(

But hey, do i really need to do that because you you have already started "thinking" that there are western people who commit crime here ..

By LostInSpace• 6 Mar 2012 18:11

please tell me what a 'pure' Westerner is? im a little confused as to if I am one, and if not why not? answers on a postcard please.....

Ah..I see. You make claims without substance. Ah well.

Nomerci.. Oh please, do you really think i'll post news here for you WITH sources.. come on !! unlike you i'm neither trying to defend nor offend any particular race here..

and frankly speaking, if you cannot accept what this news WITH A SOURCE says, i do not expect you to believe any of my news with sources.. waste of time you see :)

By nomerci• 6 Mar 2012 17:39
nomerci

Very well stealth, the Captain Lost , as he brought it up, will easily be able to post those..obviously. :)

Or would you maybe like to help him out?

court round ups obviously.

By nomerci• 6 Mar 2012 17:28

Captain Lost, I think that there certainly are Western people here that commit crimes. But I doubt they would be of the nature as posted in this thread.

I also doubt that I would be allowed into the central jail here in Qatar, hence would be grateful for proof of your claims with sources.

By Captain_Lost• 6 Mar 2012 16:42
Captain_Lost

Nomerci... LOL .. are you seriously trying to claim that Westerners CANNOT commit any serious crime here in qatar???

and nobody is talking about "white color crimes".. i'm talking about crimes of such nature as stated in this news..

Do me a favor.. save my time please... go visit Qatar central jail and have a look..im sure you'll be surprised :)

By nomerci• 6 Mar 2012 16:13

Captain lost, so those people have physically assaulted and robbed people here?

See, I am not talking about white collar crime.

And yes, I would like to get you started..a good start would be to post all those crimes those "pure" (as you call it) Westerners have committed, and please let me know the source too :)

Captain_Lost

Nomerci...This comment???

"Naa edifis, not at all.But see, here, Western people have good jobs, get paid well. They have neither the time nor need to do such things."

Please don't get me started with all the news about crimes committed by PURE westerners in QATAR.. I lived my whole life here and know lot of people working here in Govt. as well as Private sector.... Im sorry if it disappoints you but yes there are westerners who have committed crimes in Qatar for UNKNOWN motives.

My Point is.. their NAMES/NATIONALITY has nothing to do with the crime they committed. Necessity and time are not the only two factors that make people commit a crime. Some freaks even do it for mere FUN.

By Khanan• 6 Mar 2012 13:57

The story is being picked from the Gulf Times sister Arabic Daily, Al Raya'a, so in this case it is just a translation.

Either issue a story with complete details or don't report it.

By anonymous• 6 Mar 2012 13:53
anonymous

Khanan: do you even have any idea how much boot licking the reporter of this article had to go thro at the police station to just get this much of the story out to the media?

Remember this is the country that offered TV reporter money and threatened to remove her TV crew from the Movies Festival if she opened her mouth abt the mad slap she got from some mentally screwed old pig.

By nomerci• 6 Mar 2012 13:40
nomerci

Yes, khanan, spot on!

By Khanan• 6 Mar 2012 13:35
Khanan

on that thread :)

but someone did mention her Original nationality .i.e Candian :)

anyway back to this thread, incomptent reporting and journalism from the Gulf Times as usual. Much questions remained unanswered. In comparison, The Gulf News (http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/uae/crime) from UAE had a separate section for Crimes and are being reported regardless of nationality, race etc.

By nomerci• 6 Mar 2012 13:27

khanan, besides all that, the thread concerning the Oscars, my question on that thread had nothing at all to do with nationality.

By BlueBull• 6 Mar 2012 13:27

DC - for once I agree with you, may be not cobblers but it raises more questions than it answers - why would you go and meet a perfect stranger who just happens to call you and know your name. Very strange.

By anonymous• 6 Mar 2012 13:18

nomerci: seen your previous comments, won't think you meant anything bad and my comment was directed at CL something to do abt something from past, hence don't see the need to explain myself to you.

By nomerci• 6 Mar 2012 13:13
nomerci

Well Khanan... the lady who won an Oscar was lauded as Pakistani, and later it was mentioned that she is Canadian...now we are having the same thing...some people did something and they are called Western...I am just wondering if that is really the case.

Because, as I said, in this country Westerners have neither the need nor usually the time to do such things...and again, I bet those people will turn out to be African...simply because I feel this whole thing has a personal twist to it.

But anyway, we shall see.

By nomerci• 6 Mar 2012 13:08

jjj, well, I am the type of person who likes to go to the bottom of things..;)

By Khanan• 6 Mar 2012 13:07

TB :)

My take :

Shermin Obaidain won an Oscar, posted on QL, hot debate and she turned out to be a Proud Candian. :)

A crime reported in daily with Westerners as fugitives and people are digging to find their origin and true colours.

Double standards ...huh ?

By nomerci• 6 Mar 2012 13:07
nomerci

DC, who was it about then?

By jjj75• 6 Mar 2012 13:04
jjj75

Nomerci -just ignore, some people will use the smallest pretext to cry racism and yet we have had a couple of posts and comments which were clearly sexist but nobody did or said anything about it (be it said from the same people who are now crying racism). Clearly prejudice is a one way street in this town and if it is prejudice in another area - it is not really prejudice for some.

ok, so what if their names are not English or Dutch?? I mean, yeah right if a British/Dutch guy named Abdullah or Mohammad had achieved something, you'd go screaming about it to tell the world for his achievements , BUT if he'd do something wrong you'd try to throw it on other nationalities or religion??

Come on now, stop defending West here, there are good and bad people in every society.. don't tell me crimes don't occur in the west or people who live there are angels

By jjj75• 6 Mar 2012 12:44
