This is a Black Day for everyone who believed in democracy and peace.

Ms Benazir Bhutto, leader of the Pakistan People's Party, was holding an election rally in Rawalpindi when gunfire and an explosion occurred. She died on the way to the hospital (Inna Lila wa Inna Alyhe Rajoun) May her Soul rest in peace.

Our sincere condolances to the Pakistani Nation and to the Bhutto family.

It's almost 5.00 a.m. - at midday when the sun is high I would be more hopeful of peace on this earth to all mankind, but not a lot more.

Isn't that sad.

Unfortunately, as much as it has been wished and prayed for over the millenniums, it's never going to happen.

Her assassination is painful. Hope 2008 will be more peaceful.

I am still dreaming of just ONE day without blood worldwide! just one holy 24-hour day!

Salaam

He is a very controversial (popular) icon.

Just never read enough about him to comment ... nice pic though.

I'm not sure how many here would have known who it was :P

Any particular reason you chose El Che as your avatar, Hashin, apart from the fact that he was a very handsome man!?

I am getting the feeling that my avatar projects a very aggressive image... you know, makes my comments seem more intimidating that they actually are...

In politics you have to take down the opponent whether you hit him straight or below the belt.

And for the people of Afghanistan, the game is wild, bloody and brutal

Besides your theory of someone trying to push her out of the car won't hold much water cos the videos immediately preceding the blast have been released and you can see Bhutto smiling and waving and you can see the shots being fired even!

By knoxcollege• 29 Dec 2007 01:26

people will tell you I am a dangerous person when on the road.:)

By knoxcollege• 29 Dec 2007 01:23

Everyone else whose name was not written on the bomb and the bullets, and who was in the car and had kept their heads well tucked in their feathers survived.

Speaking of which I think what if someone inside the car forced her head up from the sunroof just to allow the marksman to get a good aim.

Now I see a similar resemblance between the Kennedy's and the Bhutto's., all dying un-naturally

tell me which road vehicle could survive a bomb blast?

By knoxcollege• 29 Dec 2007 01:14

This proves my theory Land Cruisers are dangerous for not only the pedestrians but also for those inside them, specially the ones with the sunroof. Thank You Toyota for giving us these deadly vehicles.

Speed,

Who said she is innocent? I don't want to lay the bare facts for you but from the Islamic perspective she was very misguided and from the Secular perspective she was a hero! I know which side I would judge her from.

Like many prominent families in pakistan, the Bhuttos have had their finger in pie too and taken a big slice. The people of pakisan have suffered under all the rulers since the so called independance from Britain...

Indeed Stealth, she was hated by so many including certain factions in the ISI whom she had already accused of being responsible for the attack on her when she arrived in pakistan...no doubt the ISI with CIA backing and support were responsible for creating the taliban; and the the mujahideen groups during the war against the soviets and then later during the talibans takeover of afghanistan...the ISI still has influence over the 'mujahideen' and could have easily used them to eliminate a common enemy...

For the US this will cause some complications as they had backed Bhutto to further US interests in pakistan including the allowing of US troops to cross into pakistan from afghanistan when chasing so called 'militants'. No doubt the US will back a new agent but it will be more difficult for this agent to make as much progress as Bhutto since she enjoyed popular support amongst the masses.

By stealth• 28 Dec 2007 23:34
stealth

She wrote her death warrant when she promised to hand over to the US

the father of Nuclear Bomb to the Americans if she became president.

So speed cut out the crap on scholars and stuff.

Even a Natioanlist(look at the army itself) would have taken care of her.

to the great leader of pakistan, may we all pray that her soul rest in peace.. All the world leaders are shocked for the cowardly act of terrorism. All the countries should stand united to fight war against terrorist groups. At this moment the people of pakistan should stay united and not to involve in attacks and riots. Hopefully the elections should go ahead in schedule.

Today in a press conference from Ministry of Interior - Pakistan, they said she died due to injury in her head (right side above the ear) she hit her head on the lever of the sunroof of the vehicle.

Mix reactions coming, but i think there should be open inquiry and they should allow investigation thru court and the judge should be from the choice of PPP not the Govt.

Then only the real story will be disclosed. We are hearing different news from different medias but nothing confirmed that how she died by a bullet or blast or lever ??

I was trying to sympathise - after all, we have had extremists in other religions too, that's all I meant.

And yes, I believe some don't want democracy in Pakistan. :o(

I am not pointing on all religious people ... some so called Islamic Scholars are responsible for this cruel act. Islam is a peaceful religion and does not allow killing of innocent people...

Benazir Bhutto was a peaceful women... a loving mother, a great leader and she was well respected and a well known personality in the world.

Whoever is happy on her dead is an evil and enemy of democracy.

not all religious people are killers in the name of their religion.

The ones who are should leave the name of God/Allah out of the evil they do in his name. And that goes for ALL religions!

As per Islam, those people are not Muslim even thou they call themself Muslim, their prayers/fasting/all good deeds will be thrown back on their faces on the day of Judgement.

They are so called Mulsim but worst then a Kafir.

She was not killed by the suicide bomb, she died from a bullet wound to the neck. The killer was a professional shooter who shoot 3 bullets to her and later blew himself up to not to be idetified.

This is the most devastating end of year 2007 for us. She was one of my favorite personality in the world.

May Al Mighty Allah destroy these terrorist and bring peace on this Earth and give strenght and unity to Pakistani people in this time of grief.

It is likely 'Islamic' militants or 'extremists' will be blamed though the real culprits may well come from within the ruling gang or from those who wish to undermine the american plans for pakistan. Afterall it was the US who supported her and musharaf to reconcile and brokered a deal between the two. The ruling gang sensing her growing popularity may have decided to take the risk of eliminating her to maintain their grip on power. The use of 'islamic' militants may well be a suitable cover for the act and a means by which to rally the masses in support of the US 'democratisation' plan for pakistan.

As the evidence is washed (literally) by the authorities then it is unlikely any inquiry will yield any results on who may have killed her.

As for Bhutto and politicians like her; then those who know and are familiar with them will know they have done more harm to the people of pakistan then any other through their corruption and alignment with the US.They are never interested in the peoples interests but use power to bleed the wealth of the country.
