BEWARE OF FAKE DISH FIXING GUY - SHAHIN

By ajeshk

Dear All,

Please beware of dish fixing guy called Shahin and his friend. These guys promised me to do tuning of BIGTV for QAR 200 including changing of the LNB. After they came to my place they tried all, but they could not get the channels for which they blamed my receiver (said, it is not active). They used my old LNB. I insisted them to use a different type of LNB (4way), which they rejected and challenged me to fix the dish with someone else and left a 4way LNB at my place to test. Later I called another guy who set the channels with the 4way LNB which the fake guys (shahin and his partner) had left at my place.

Later after a day both the thieves (Shahin and his partner) called me to find out whether I am getting the channels, when they knew that I am receiving all the channels, they were somewhat ashamed/shocked/embarrassed. Both these guys came last night to my home and threatened me to pay QAR 300 for their LNB, which costs only QAR 50 in the market, they said if i do not pay they will remove the LNB and will fiddle with my existing dish settings. They were very rude, and if I was alone at home I would have taken the matters to Police.

I am staying with my family, and also I do not want to disturb my existing dish settings for this reason I paid them QAR 300 with my free cursing with that. These guys are so shameless that they have no hick-up in asking money for something which they do not deserve. They could have asked for the LNB price plus their service charge, no issues.

I am sure these guys from a very bad family background and must be engaged in several other illegal activities in this country.

They also say that they do fixing of PC jobs, so please be aware of these guys.

Please be aware of these guys, below is the link of their advert in QL. They carry several cell numbers.

Xena Asked:

"Could someone tell me ... What is Big TV and why is it illegal?"

Big TV is an Indian Satellite TV Service provider ... they do not have an agreement with Qatar to broadcast it in Qatar.

Only Pehla (another satellite tv service provider) has acquired the rights to air Indian tv channels in Qatar.

Hence, it is illegal to install satellite dishes that are tuned to receive signals from Big TV, Tata Sky etc

A word of advice cabbage... Xena is blonde :(

By Xena• 3 Feb 2011 15:47
Xena

thank goodness I am a bottle blonde;-P

By anonymous• 3 Feb 2011 15:44

But at least we women know what we are doing:-

A blonde walked into a store and asked to buy a television. The man said that they did not sell televisions to blondes, so the blonde left.

That night the blonde dyed her hair red. In the morning she went back to the store and asked to buy a television. The guy still said we don't sell televisions to blondes. The blonde asked how did he know she was a blonde. He answered because that's not a television; it's a microwave!

Well the thing is men have trouble with ermmm shall we say guessing ermm lengh and width.

So hmmmmm....errrr I would think most of them must have a small to a middling errrrrrrrrrmmm 'TV' ;-)

By Xena• 3 Feb 2011 15:36
Xena

but cabbage.... they still haven't answered me.... :-(

How big is Big TV....:-(

By anonymous• 3 Feb 2011 15:32
anonymous

Well if we women are ever allowed to get hold of it, we could avail ourselves of the pleasure of perhaps fixing the problem with the vertical hold.

By Xena• 3 Feb 2011 15:31
Xena

the vertical hold? Would that be the remote control?

By anonymous• 3 Feb 2011 15:28
anonymous

Xena and I are merely swapping ideas of what we think a perfectly reasonable size for a TV would be and the problems therein you may have with them;-P

By anonymous• 3 Feb 2011 15:26
anonymous

Well this talk is precisely why it is illegal to mention sizes here so no BIG TV:(

By anonymous• 3 Feb 2011 15:24
anonymous

I always find that if the vertical hold goes you are in big trouble.

By Xena• 3 Feb 2011 15:23
Xena

have always been told, its not the size that counts, its the um.... picture quality...;-p

By anonymous• 3 Feb 2011 15:20
anonymous

Well size does matter.

So 42 inches would do...but a hand held one would be off no use ;-)

It's tiny but I like what I see ;-P

By Xena• 3 Feb 2011 15:18
Xena

please give us dimensions of acceptable sized TVs;-P

By Xena• 3 Feb 2011 15:17
Xena

WK... thats what I thought... so am confused as to why its illegal;-P

are we only allowed small TV's in Qatar?

By anonymous• 3 Feb 2011 15:16
anonymous

Xena Big TV is a TV which is very big :(

Hey, i'm not concerned about the fake guys. If lots of people r doing it, it doesnt make it right , does it?. Besides you shouldnt have used their LNB, but since u did ,u have to be ready to remove it and give it back, or pay whatever they ask for.

do you access signal a porn channel?

I know this might irk you, but sheeeesh....Rizks was right! You gave your money then you complain.

You shouldn't have made them get their way.

But anyway, not a lot of people like drama with other people...that's probably why you dished out the money, so just suck it up and deal with it.

By hicoob• 3 Feb 2011 09:28

Even I experienced the same with this guy name Shahin, he literally sc..... my dish settings and cursing the signals in qatar whereas my neighbour is getting the signal.
