The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) recently arrested two Arab nationals who attempted to circulate and promote counterfeited currency notes inside the country.

The arrest was happened because of a complaint from a worker of a local petrol station informing the police that a motorist paid them a fake QR 500 note while the worker at the station came to find out the note as fake only after the motorist left the station.

The CID formed a taskforce to investigate the case based on the descriptions of the suspect given by the worker and the members of the taskforce arrested the suspect within a short period.

During the interrogation, the accused confessed on circulating the counterfeited notes of QR 500 in the country, which he received from his compatriot for the purpose of circulation.

The CID personnel seized counterfeited notes for the amount of QR 100000 from the man in addition to QR 7000 which were also counterfeited.

Later, the Taskforce arrested the second offender who confessed during the interrogation that he had entered Qatar with counterfeit notes amounting to QR 168,000 hidden in his luggage with the aim of circulating it in the country.

He claimed that he had bought the counterfeit currency from a man for QR 25,000 original notes. Later, they were transferred to the Public Prosecution, which ordered to detain and produce them at concerned court.

banks are obliged by the central bank to count all their money with the machines on full detection, so if you do get counterfeit money from the bank (although its very hard to prove it) you can make a HUUUGE case against the bank, and the bank will pretty much get penalized, i saw a counterfeit note before, and the thing really looks reall, but the feel is way of, and the metal and transparent sections of the note are missing, so if you look twice you can easily point it out
