Betrayal of a people ?

Al-jazeera's leakage of the palestinian papers shows how the palestinian leaders have been negotiating on their behalf and offering massive concesions - without their knowledge.

Today Haa'retz said that "Al-Jazeera trump WikiLeaks
Palestinian documents on Mideast negotiations revealed by Al-Jazeera TV are testimony that the Palestinians are willing to go the distance for peace."

Meanwhile, Lieberman has "offered" the Palestinians as an interim arrangement (45-50 percent of the West Bank with land swaps)- far less what was offered during clinton's presidency .

The Al-Jazeera documents and Lieberman’s plan will both be presented to the Quartet of Mideast negotiators, a group of representatives from the U.S., European Union, Russia and United Nations, who will meet in two weeks on how to pull negotiations from their current impasse.

Will Abbas now retire after selling out his people or will he be hailed as a saviour ??

And perhaps that Palestinian leaders desperate for a state are willing to pay too high a price..

cryspy, I learnt that it's otherway round, british wanted to make it one country/union but tribal leaders were adamant to have thier own way and thats why there r many tiny nations based on their tribe etc; someone may correct me, if it's otherwise.

btw, each puppet in region (useless to repeat the long story regarding the region, how Britain's govt after 1st world war divided a single state in bit and pieces and rewarded to.......)are doing great of their job.

What else do U expect from those SELECTED LEADERS BY US, they are doing their job pretty well.

IMHO, Hammas Leadership is elected one, by majority of Palestinians.

There has been a small backlash already towards Al Jazzera; over the timing of why they have chosen now to release the documents.

I think they were right to do so. However, with Tunisia being in turmoil, I wonder if that unrest will travel.

I'm in minority but I disagree that all politicians are bad.

IMHO, they do represent our society in large and if we as a society are bad, politican do represent the same. Problem is we expect "ideal' from others while we, as individual & society, are never perfect.

There are good people too..

Yes, it seems that Abbas is a dead man walking. The question now is whether the US will try and push through a solution. I doubt whether Hamas will be allowed back into the picture..

been listening to this since the morning in al jazeera..its also being said that abbas' term is over and he is no more authorised to represent the palestinians.

well, this gives a reason for hamas to sway the support towards them.

blame it on the Military Industrial complex.

In the it effects the bottom line of those industries related to the war machine.

I too believe that they will eventually settle for less. however, the issue here is the deceit of their leaders..

"far less what was offered during clinton's presidency"

And the offer will decrease all the time till there is nothing left on the table to bargain with.

I'm not going to get into the why's and wherefores but they need to agree to this and get on with setting up a stable homeland while one is still on offer.

Mr M.

Politics is a very dirty game. These lansd of selling out one's land and sovereignty are horrific to be honest. But there have been a lot of twists and turns to this issue.ALLAH SWT knows best.
