Hey All

Thanks for being on this forum - I have learnt a lot. We shall be arriving in August and I feel as though I have a decent handle on most things through this site. Fortunately, in terms of the cost of living, we are arriving from Norway, so all the food prices I have researched are 2-3 times cheaper than where we are!
Anyway, everything is relative and I am sure there's lots of people feeling the squeeze with such high inflation...
I have a few questions. Firstly, can anyone give me the current price of a chicken? (The whole, dead, plucked variety as opposed to the ones which can run around eating your cockroaches!)
Secondly, any comments on airlines? We have always tried to fly BA and Emirates whenever we can as they are great with our two small kiddoes (we fly a LOT.) However, I booked with Qatar Airlines from the UK in August, just for grins and giggles. I also note that there are good prices to be had with Air Egypt, Middle Eastern Airlines etc. We might be tempted to use them for trips to Damascus, Cairo, Beirut etc. Any comments?
Finally, I'm a fairly keen runner (10k, half marathon sorta distance.) How should I dress to run and can I run alone or must I be accompanied?
Thanks to all.
Peace
Beccs XX

I would never have a pet, either dogs or cars in my home, then 3 years ago my daughter was going through a very bad time and she asked for a dog, when we looked and I saw Clio I was a little worried but now, she is part of my family and can't remember life without her, they are so loyal and loving and trusting.

Your sister is certainly lucky to have such a big hearted brother xx

i used to hate cats, never hurt 0ne thought, then my sis got a cat(male), our agreement is that she will feed it and handle everything, not to allow it to cross to my room even, anyway in the first week with us it got so sick even the vet told me it will mostly die, and my sis was at final exam, so i had to take care of the cat, now i love that cat very much, realy i can't tell why.

That is my much loved Pomeranian Clio, her real name is Foxy Cleopatra and she is my baby.

Miss her too much as had to leave her in the UK with my daughter,

easy mistake to make, she is probably smaller than the average cat :)

........if I needed medical treatment then I would put up with House in a heartbeat! (Scuze the pun.)

However, rude airline staff are only to be tolerated if they are serving champagne and lobster......LOL!

...much appreciated BrandyLady......interesting about Etihad, never flown with them before.

I must admit I can see your point regarding the running. I've been spoilt here in Norway - sunny weather and beautiful scenery with fresh cool air! I shall be running a bit in Dallas over the summer to try to acclimatise.

Fortunately, I gather we have access to the gym facilities where we shall be working in Education City, so I guess I shall be a treadmill runner from now on -SIGH!-

XXX

BTW, are you a cat person? We are hoping to get a cat....

firstly welcome in advance,

The cost of chicken, plucked and ready to go is very cheap, in Carrafour they sell 2 small chickens for just a few QR

I always fly either Qatar air or Etihad and have always found them excellent although I sway towards Etihad, just a personal preference though.

As for running, I don't think August is the climate for running, the humidity will kill you, best to try and find a nice air conditioned gym where you can run to your hearts content.

hope this helps, x
