Be aware at Doha Clinic
I went to Doha Clinic to ask for a copy of my notes to be made so I could give them to my GP back home. The nurse had my notes and other peoples notes with her when she took them to the photocopy machine in the reception. She placed all the other peoples notes face up on the counter for all the world to see!! The reception was very busy and she had her back to the counter while copying. Privacy is not high on the agenda there as I have also had other patients just walk in on a consultation without even so much as a knock at the door. Needless to say I will not being going back. I would just like to point out though that I am not complaining about the level of medical care, just the lack of patient confidentiality.
and they were only fixing an ingrowing toenail...
;)
I had a RUBBISH time at Doha Clinic, too.. they sent me to wait for the wrong Dr and I was waiting 2 hours.. then, they sent me to the right one, eventually- but not before I told them that I thought they were INSANE.. (I think my language may have been less polite than that at that point)
Then, when I came round after my op, I had a split lip and bruised ribs and leg... had to go to physio to get it fixed. She's convinced that they DROPPED me when they were operating... lol... but, seriously, though!
I was cursing because I thought these things only happen to mE....:)
Reumat doctor at Hamad was not good...........he did not even find what was actually bothering me,just gave me some painkillers and send me home..............lol
as i mentioned earlier it is hard to just say this hosp is better than the other one ,i go to hamad for rheumatologist and endocrinologist,to doha clinic for my son psychiatrist and pediatrician,to al ahli for any radiology it is faster to get an appointment, and for other services sometimes i am alternating,i am more satisfied this way
Well they are very cost effective..They help to get all your dues paid up with the help of insurance companies..Of course the insurance dosent get to know of the malpractice. But at the end both the patient and the hospital are in benefit..!!
Oh QS poor thing, i wouldve died with embarrement..
I had a similar embarrasing issue months ago when i took my son to emerency at Hamad, he had climbed on the couch and fell on the coffee table with his testicles hitting the edge (ouch). I had to explain this several times at different windows until we reached the appropiate Dr, who again aksed me what happened and he did his consulatation in a room with 6 other couples and their children who were wating for him. Seems there wasnt a waitng room.
Same with PEC, you are greeted near the door by a nurse who asks you whats wrong with the child, right next to the waiting room, where everyone is bored out of their brains and watching and listening to whoever comes in..
TBH, 1 year later nothing phases me here about confidentiality issues..
all they concern about is their money.. I came to see a Gyno specialist, and they wanted to make me sharing my issues with the Insurance Company guys (before I even see a Doctor) in order to decide either it shall be covered by my Insurance or i have to pay for it! Obviously, I didn't want to share my issues with them.. so they did let me see a doctor, which started from checking if it's covered by Insurance or not.. she was listening to me, and was checking in her papers if it’s covered by Insurance or not, and also was writing down on paper my complaints at the same time… Then she gave this paper to me and asked me to go downstairs back to Insurance!! Well.. I didn’t have a choice, so I went there. Can you imagine my shock, when the Insurance guy started reading loudly whatever was written by the doctor on this paper, i.e. all my issues! And sure, there were people around, and couple of guys in particular got very interested in that, and was staring at me, as well as at the Insurance guy.. I grabbed this paper out of his hands and very quietly and very nicely whispered : you are an idiot!
By the way, since then I go to Doha clinic.. it’s not that I am absolutely happy with their services, but at least I am satisfied more than with anyone else...
I got a disgusting experience with the American Hospital as well…

I think you are probably right about different hospitals being best for different specialities. It's the waiting at Hamad Hospital that would make me want to go private though!
As for privacy, I think generally there is neither the same awareness or value of privacy that you find in some other countries. Perhaps this is a cultural thing.

oh come on here you start again there was a forum telling all the bad staff about alahli hospital in comparison to hamad hosp when it comes to delivery and here you are wanting to start this about a new hosp but i don't know why i feel people here are advertising some places and insulting other places at there expense, from my experience here there is no best hospital in qatar but i have preferred doctors in each specialty and they belong to different hospitals,no 100% privacy here in any hospital, actually no privacy in all qatar as it is really a small country where it is very hard to go some place without seeing someone you know!!!!!!
Lets hope its your personal life spread all over the counter next time. How funny would you find that?
I think Al-Aahli Hospital is best

I do't know if it is still the case, but they used to have malicious software on their website too.

I know, it's funny isn't it. In the US they have now installed glass partitions between patients and the reception desk for privacy's sake. And it is difficult if not impossible to find out if a friend is in the hospital since that is confidential information. Oh, for a happy medium. Privacy but not paranoia.

I know they will terribly miss you if you don't go back again :)
