bank deposits
What's the most amount of money I can pay into a Qatari bank without people asking questions? Last time I came over I brought 10k euros to pay into IBQ and they said I had exceeded some limit where they needed to know where I had got it, had to answer questions, sign a form etc.
I'm flying in again soon and want to bring more cash, if necessary I can pay it in over several days to avoid scrutiny. Anyone know what the limit is?
Well I showed up with my cash and was asked my source of funds again, no big deal, I had to write a short statement and the deposit required manager approval, so took a few extra minutes.
Anyway the answer is QAR 50,000. This is the threshold in Qatar for the banks/authorities wanting to know where you got your money.
Read about the AML and FATF instructions which came into being after Sep 11, 2001 events.
Anyway, that's what i know. You can always ask your banker to give you more infos.
There are no international laws pertaining to banking regulations to my knowledge, it is very much at the domestic level.
It's an international law.The maximum you can deposit is ten thousand dolars cash.Exceeding this amount, you have to prove;ie:resource.
