Balls-ed-up Tourist Visa!

Hello All!

I wonder which smart alec knows the answer to my predicament??? I ventured to the immigration off this Sunday to acquire a 1 month Tourist Visa for my sister-in-law. No problem, got it next day via the web! But to my stupidity, I realised that the visa only lasted for 3-months, she is due to fly the day after the visa expires! DOH!

Any idea how I can cancel visa and get a new Tourist Visa? I really don't want to go to that Immgration office again. Can this be done over the phone or online somehow? Those guys behind the counter (including the Captain) speak virtually no English (and if they do - it is virtually impossible to understand)plus all of the forms are in Arabic!! Boy this place gets me frustrated sometimes!

Thanks Chevydjak,

I actually went to the airport branch to obtain the visa in the first place. My experience was obviously not as pleasant as yours. I accept that I will need to return there to obtain a new visa. But to add to the twist, her visa expires 1 day before she flies! I would be far too nervous to apply for another tourist visa 1 day before she flies. I would prefer to cancel the current visa and purchase a new one.

Need more ideas QL? Can I simply cancel the visa now?

later... The Captain there can speak and understand english and he's always on his seat.. Besides there is an English/Arabic Form there.

my suggestion.. same day the visa expires, apply for a new one. Go to immigration in the airport, not the main immigration to avoid hassle. I got my tourist visa on the web for my wife after 2 hours only. Not much queue and there is always a captain there. Fill up the form, then go to the counter where the captain sits, he will just ask you your relationship with the visitor then he will sign. Go to the counter to pay 100 riyals. By the way, penalty for overstaying is 200 per day

Can't change her ticket unfortunately. Anymore ideas?

Qatar has now evolved to be a multi-national community. Therefore, in my view, and in the way evolution occurs, the Qataris need to adapt 'survival of the fitness'.

If she over stays for only a day, then you can just pay a small fine.I don't know how much it is now,but it may be better then paying for a new visa.
