The boyfriend of Baby P's mother has been attacked in prison by another inmate.
Steven Barker, 33, who is serving his lengthy sentence in top-security Wakefield Prison, West Yorkshire, was attacked by another inmate.
It was reported that he was felled with a single punch by the prisoner in an attack yesterday.
Barker received 12 years' imprisonment after being convicted of allowing or causing the death of Baby P - real name Peter Connelly.
He was just 17 months old when he died in August 2007 at the hands of his mother, Tracey Connelly, 28, her lover Barker, and their lodger, Barker's brother, Jason Owen, 37.
Baby P had suffered 50 injuries despite receiving 60 visits from social workers, doctors and police over the final eight months of his life.
A series of reviews identified missed opportunities when officials could have saved the little boy's life if they had acted properly on the warning signs in front of them.
Barker then received a life sentence when he was convicted of raping a two-year-old girl.
Barker needed treatment in the jail's hospital after yesterday's attack but was reported to have recovered.
A prison spokeswoman said: 'On the morning of December 11, a prisoner at HMP Wakefield was assaulted by another prisoner.
'Thanks to the prompt and professional action of officers at HMP Wakefield who intervened, this situation was brought under control almost immediately.
'The prisoner who was assaulted received treatment in the prison's healthcare wing and the assailant is currently in the segregation unit.'

Serves him right! I hope he suffers often for what he did to the poor defenceless baby.

What a shame. This a good reason not to have the death penalty.
Frankly I hope they keep in the public prison and don't put him in solitary. He deserves to find out exactly what his victims went through.
Sorry. No sympathy for him..He deserves a lot worse..
They deserve a battering at least once a week for the pain and suffering they caused to baby P. RIP Baby Peter
