tinkerbell10 - yeah. And the thing with practice, when you first start, you find it really annoying but once you get in the zone, it becomes totally addicting. lol :D

gypsy gal - Thanks again. Lots of practice is what it took me. When I first started portrait art, the quality of my art was very different from how they look now. But I was hell bent on improving so I practiced like crazy xD

tinkerbell10 - I always use fixative on artworks, after I finish them. The messiness in charcoal occurs while I'm drawing. After I use it, half my right hand is black. lol ^^;

@ bluepantherback2 - Thank you. I tried charcoal before. It's a great medium though I'm not really that fond of it coz it can get messy at times ^^;
.....they are fantastic...try using charcoal for your next - you'll get darker blacks and the effects will be stunning. Your talent will shine...

here are some tiny constructive criticism:
1- in the last drawing u could have enhanced the joint between the middle finger and the palm.
2- little enhancement of the boy's ear is also required.
but overall it is excellent.
