Are We an Example to our Kids

What are we teaching our kids on the value of life? With so much violence out there are we guiding those new minds correctly?

Two boys, aged 12 and 13, have been arrested by police investigating the brutal murder of a teenager in a park near his home.
It brings the total number of people being held over the killing of Amar Aslam to five.
Police are also questioning two 15-year-olds and a 20-year-old.
Amar, 17, died from head injuries on Sunday after being attacked in Crow Nest Park in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire.
It is thought he may have been the victim of violence between warring gangs of youths who waged running battles in the park at the weekend.

Agree parents have to be an example and the laws need to be harsher. Mattyhardylower made a good point, gangs have never been cooler. Teenagers look up to the like of TUPAC, 50 Cents, Eminem etc etc. All these artisits havemade it cool to be rude, vulgar and violent and teenagers are impressionable, the emulate them. They portray women as "s## objects and gangs as something cool...

Parents have to take responsibility for their children. this includes, morals, values etc. Also, the government needs to get real and use harsh punishments as a deterent.

I understand your rationlisation but the smoking example is way off the mark. Both my parents smoke, all their lives infact, but not once have I or my brother touched a cigerette. On the flip side neither of MY parents drink, but we both enjoy the occasional pint.

The violence in the UK Cities right now is a result of the social and economical enviroment these kids grow up in. Gangs have neer been cooler, violence has never been so indiscriminate and clinical. Theyre are no rules or boundries in a group of youths fighting. You cant solely blame tv, schools, problematic childhoods, theyre all excuses.

The British Government has let down the whole country. Educational, Law and Order, including the Judicial system has repeatedly let down the general public.( Including me - I was the victim of a stabbing some years ago) If these youths were punished as they should be, some, not all would think twice about there actions. WHERES THE DETERRENT?

Responsibility has to start with the individual.

it is easier to say or teach good manners or anything to our children but what matters is are we practicing what we teach?

In this particular news, I would presumed that these youths are from problematic childhood. The environment they grew up is violent that is why they become violent. This is precisely the danger of unsupervised TV viewing or indescrationary upbringing in school, in church or anywhere our children will be. A very good example is Smoking Cigarrete. If you smoke, can you prohibit your children from smoking?
