Aqua Park Qatar drew as many as 16,000 visitors during the Eid al-Fitr holidays, including people from other Gulf countries. “Aqua Park is becoming a very hot destination that is helping internal tourism for Qatar,” general manager Mohamed Khoursheed said. About 10% of the visitors were from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Oman. The visitors enjoyed the activities and new rides that opened for the summer season during the first day of Eid. This included the African village, a 240sqm pool with slides in the shape of different animals, and mushroom showers. The pool has also elephant figures spouting water from their trunks and giraffe showers for toddlers. “Space boat” is another new attraction at Aqua Park. It is a slide that drops from a 20m tower into a 150m long fibreglass tunnel. “Safety is a priority at Aqua Park Qatar where each slide and pool is monitored by specialised operators and life guards,” Khoursheed said. A special team monitors the quality of the water. Aqua Park is open seven days a week from 10am to 10pm. Every Saturday is expatriates’ day
We visited the Aqua Park during Eid- went on the first day on Sunday to avoid the crowds. It was fun - everyone agreed that they would go back. Pros- Alert and polite lifeguards everywhere, so you do feel that safety is a priority.Since we went on the first day, the crowds were quite right- not too much, not too little(one of the common problems in Qatar- the place is empty, so you dont want to go there again. There was something for the teenagers, toddlers, adults, so everyone had fun.Dress code is still not strictly enforced now- there were women wearing bikinis although we were cautious about what we wore. We did click pictures and were not stopped, we did not know it was not allowed.Cons- The washrooms and changing rooms are pathetic- cleanliness is not upto the mark, even though there are staff around. There are no maps and no announcements regarding the attractions around the park- you have to find it yourself(we did not know about the space boat and so, we missed it).The wave pool was offlimits for quite some time, because the Qatar television channel decided to conduct some water sports for kids there. All the announcements are in Arabic. There are limited shaded spots, so go there early. It is not Wild Wadi- the lazy river is tiny, the park is very tiny, if you compare it to Wild Wadi.My advice- go with realistic expectations and you will enjoy it. If you go there, expecting the kind of planning, organising, facilities, available in similar attractions around the world, you will be disappointed.
Never been there but i've been to the ZOO and the animals doesn't seem to be pleased with their environment. And they look unhealthy. I'm hoping they'd improve their condition and then open an aquatic zoo on the open space beside it. That'd be much better for the int. tourism.
I've been there last week., not that bad though... I enjoyed the slides, though its tiring to use the stairs... :( i lost count of the steps but its as high as the slides, wish they could provide a lift :P lol
Been there this Eid with my family and so far my child enjoyed swimming.Foods from outside and taking picture is prohibited. Though I have seen people taking pictures. It would have been better if they will permit visitor to bring their own food rather than buying on the fastfood there and of course taking picture as a remembrance....

@timebandit - If that's what you're afraid of, can I suggest some serious dieting? :)
to enjoy!
you can enjoy the pool and the wave pool :)
they are big enough;)
Well I have to say, the posts here seem to be positive. If it wasn't for my fear of getting stuck in the tubes, I would probably give it a go.
@Minoush - I saw some women on bikinis ( only 2 though :P) and some women in abaya plunging in the pool ;)
We opted for shorts and sleeveless as we go for the safe side ;) only if we knew that we can wear bikinis.... * sigh* LoL
What is the situation with bathing suits? Can women wear them or do they insist on burkinis, t-shirts and shorts?
and enjoyed it. will visit again...
never been to the park or to the zoo.
I went yesterday. It was actually much better than I was expecting. Good fun.

not news
Is this really news ? The zoo and Villagio Mall also help internal tourism.
I also haven't been there :(
never been there
I still haven't been. Am I missing out? Anyone who has been there, would you go again?
