Hello everydody!!

I have just joined the forum because I seek some advice from you. I am a master's degree student and will be moving down in Doha next month for a 6-months traineeship.

Can anybody tell me how to get a furnished studio? I have been looking on the internet but did not find anything satisfactory. As you all know, students' budget is limited :) and I am able to spend not more than 2000 QR in accomodation. Do you think I can get something good with such a budget?

Also, I will prefer to live near Carrefour hypermarket.

If you have any advice or any offer, please get back to me.

Tx you all!!

Hi Osos!!

I am really reassured that Qatar is a safe country.

Food seems not to be expensive, what is a good point (because I like nice dishes, lol). Cinema ticket costs almost the same as here.

Well, you did not tell me the cost of the taxi per kilometer (sorry to bother you).

Thanks!!

Actually contury here is very safe, don't worry about this issue

Avg cost for normal living per person (food / transportation / ...) 1000 - 1500 Per month depends on your lifestyle.

As example normal meal as u mentioned cost 15 Ryal & Taxi per Kilometrage / Cinema ticket 30 Ryal

1 US $ = 3.65 Ryal

Hi Osos!!

Tx for your post. Well, you'r right since the prices that i've found recently are around 2500QR and even more. In fact, I have reviewed my accomodation budget. As far as safety is concerned, can you tell me if there are some places in Doha that are not safe? I am really concerned about this matter, for I do not want to see my training changed into a nightmare.

By the way, except from the rent, how much it will cost me per month to live in Doha? For instance, how much is a taxi trip (do taxies function in terms of kilometers or it is possible to negotiate)? Is food expansive? How much will cost me a sandwich and a can of soda for instance? And what about socializing? How much does a cinema ticket cost?

As i told you, the Avg cost for 2 bedroom flat (normal) 6000 QR and the full furnished is 7000 QR. So if it shared between two your cost will be not less than 3000 QR Per month.

Otherwise you have to share your ROOM with another person to rech honey budget. which mentioned as bachelor accomedation. It depend on you. and these the prices for city center loaction

Thanks for your posts!

The fact is that Osos suggested a price which is twice the one that Honey suggested. By the way, it gives me an approximative idea. I am not looking for something very luxuous (my trip is not a holiday trip), nor am i looking for something indecent. Just the middle. Of course, I would be happy to live in a luxuous appartment (if my financial means enable me to do so :) Anyway, I will try to review my budget.

Some more questions: The company i will be making the training in is located at the city center. And it will be great if i can live not far from it. So, I want to know if it is easy to find something in the city center (I live in France and here, it is more difficult and expensive as well). I imagine it should be the same thing in Doha? Anyway, maybe it's the opposite, you never know!

Can you also give me an approximation of the amount of money i will need per month in order to live decently?

Thanks in advance,

cheers!!
