My advice (I am a IT professional). I have used both. If you compare a PC and a Mac of the same price in performance. PC will be unbeatable.

If you just want to say "I have a Mac from Apple" then go for Mac. (Not about the OS, I am talking about the Mac hardware)

If you are keen about performance. Just go for a PC(Desktop/Laptop).

It really drive me crazy when people say their core2duo mac is faster and "smoother" than the corei7 PC. ROFL.

BTW if you compare the Operating systems, Windows 7 and Mac OS Snow Leopard, I would say Mac OS looks better and have lesser stability problems. (You can Install Mac OS on PC with little hacking)

On the other hand 50% of the softwares/Drivers dont support Mac OS.

Recently I bought a assembled PC for my company for 6000 QR only for CPU.

Specs - Gigabyte P67, Core i7 (2600k) 3.4Ghz, 12GB Ram, GTX460 GPU.

What you will get for 9000 QR is an iMac with

Core i3 3.0 Ghz, 4Gb ram, ATI HD 5670 + monitor.

Whatever they argue it's not going to be faster than the above PC

Now you can decide to go with the Apple sh*it or worthy PC.

Buying Mac is like buying a Mercedez benz...

You will get all the comfort... but for a bit higher price than it's competitors..

Try Carrefour in Villagio.

Last week I saw two mac-books in the laptop section.

Most probably it would be still there.

@ Landmark Mall just beside the Esprit shop, there's a new Mac stall set-up.  They have displayed the new Macbooks but I did not check the price.

I can recommend Macbook Pro & Vista! Perfect design and perfect OS, great performance. Disadvantage will be the weird keyboard but you can map it as you want so you won't miss any important keys..

It all depends on your requirement and purpose of your usage. If you are planning to stick on the some professional media designing or any multimedia designing, video streaming, publishing for magazine or website, etc. it’s better to go for Mac PC; If it’s other way around, don’t waste lot of money. Instead you may look for assembled PC with Platinum Casing and motherboards. Recently I have assembled a PC for my personal business, as I am multimedia designer. All together I spent about QAR 3800/- including monitor. The system is just superb and I am enjoying using it. Chill~~~~~~~J
