Charlton Athletic have confirmed they have received "an indicative cash offer" to buy the club from a Dubai-based investment company.
The club confirmed in a statement that it will enter a period of due diligence with Zabeel Investments.

I suppose Platini will be hopping mad by now.:)

Brit....................tend to agree on the Maclaren front, though we did get our best league positions and our only cup win with him, and of corse a european final.

With Southgate I think the jury is still out. This season may be his make or break as he now has his team not one inherited from Maclaren.

Yes I hope Charlton go back up, if your down too long though it becomes more difficult.

Valiants comes from the sword on the club badge (which is the city of London insignia), and im with you about the Addicks term, though im not sure it cos we used to get changed in a chippy....more likely that we were close to woolwich dockyard where the fshermen used to come in saying..'Get yer 'Addocks'...well thats my take on it anyway.

We were also known as the Robins (Red & White kit), hence 'when the red red robin....etc)

Adey, i was there for the Boxing Day massacre of Chelsea too...great game especially first half.

We'll have to make it a social next time we're on TV.

Hats off to Gibson for putting money into the club.. However, his choice is managers is bewildering.. McLaren and now Southgate..Both have NO personality or charisma..

to play you again next season (us going up not you going down), we had better get our skates on though. 2 years is a lomg time to be away from home and not be able to see ya team on the box. Also when you go down the kit looks like it was designed by Primark!!! I hate our new tops.

I'll go and weep now.

There you go adey, always friendly boro fans.

My best pal at home is a life long Charlton fan, him and all his family.

The boro don't have a cash cow chairman as such. What we have is Steve Gibson who is regarded generally as being the best chairman in the league. Yes he's got some dosh but not in the billionaire style.

I actually think our club is one of the best run clubs in the division and, for a small club, we don't do too bad

They used to get changed in a fish and chip shop in the early days when playing on community parks hence the term haddocks morphed into addicks,

Valients, eh? It kinda rings a bell. after The Valley I guess.

The theory goes that they were called the "haddocks" , which later became "Haddicks" and eventually "Addicks"..

All sounds fishy to me.

Did you know that they were also known as the "Valiants"..?

"Mum say on the line I washed it"

Little boy looks out of the window and sees his shirt laying in the mud.

Says to his mum "why is my Charlton shirt in the mud"

Mum say, "the bastards have pinched the pegs again"

It's a real shame, not just coz they are my team, that they were relegated. They were held up as a model of how to run a smaller Premiership team - no debt and no huge loans (see Leeds!), excellent youth policy, excellent communitty links, player wage cap, stable management, full of Internationaly capped players and attracting bigger names, and a solid premiership side.

Someone just forgot to tell the players that 2 years ago!!!

My highlight of those years was seeing us stuff Chelsea 4-2 on Boxing day 2003 at The Valley. Abramovich had pumped in a hundred million or so and the crowd chanted "What a waste of Money!!" ha ha.

Ranaeri, the manager, was targeted with 'You'll be out in the summer!" to which he had the good grace and humour to reply "you think I've got that long?" Ha ha ha!

Anyway onwards and upwards!

Care to guess why we are called the Addicks? No one really knows but one of the stories is a clear favourite with me.

Answers on a postcard.

Perhaps I used the wrong terminology.. Charlton , like Milwall and West Ham has a great loyal fan base, but they are not glamourous enough to pull in the large gates and "corporate" fans that clubs rely on nowadays.

Must admit though that I like Pardew..So, let's hope for the best..

Charlton's catchment area in terms of population is huge! At a rough guess I would say 1 million plus. The only decent club in the whole of SE London and Kent environs. And we still get 20,000 plus gates in the championship games this year.

Another Charlton fan on here - we need the money and the long term investment if we are going to get back up. I thought we would go straight back up last year - but it is looking dire without financial support.

Charlton is it's fans, lose that and you lose the club, I cant see the Dubai group wanting to alter the clubs outlook.

Up the Addicks!!!

This has been going on since the start of the year...and as a Charlton fan im not sure what to think of it yet. Investment is a good thing, but it moves away from the traditional club values. Speaking to some Man City fans, they've been through the same thing recently, Zabeel seem to be in it for the long term and are keen to promote youth academy's etc which cant be a bad thing.

The Charlton rollercoaster ride continues......
