Al Million Taxi Service

Had anyone taken rides with Karwa's new franchised taxis operated by Al Milllion? I have yet to take a rdie in one of these new franchised taxis. So I don't know about their services. Are the drivers better behaved than those from Karwa or Mowasalat? Wonder whether Mowasalat had made any effort to oversee complaints regarding Al Million in order to further enhance the quality of service. Any comment?

I have made a reservation for this morning at 7:30 and when I made the booking, I specifically asked that the driver shouldn't be late, because I am going to work.

Not only the driver was late, he never showed up!!! I tried many times to call the company and nobody answered the phone.

Al Million Taxi is the worst taxi company I have ever dealt with in my life!

Very disappointing...

Try to look at the meter...there is a red light number on screen showing 1, or 0 or..any number. That's determining how much riyals/km rate are you being charged.

If going outside of Doha he may put the number as 0...(I'm not really sure..but as an example), if in Doha the number is showing 1.

There was one time a good hearted Karwa driver told me about this and even showed me the rate schedule (kept in glove box). He also advised me so next time I won't be cheated by other drivers. It's really helpful!

So next time, you should get this ionformation from the taxi driver too!

there was one time the driver asking me where is the Landmark..and asking if I can show him how to get there.

Gosh! I dunno neither myself that's why I took taxi.

qaexpat, You will not regret coming over. I did the same thing along with atleast 25 other families about four years back. No one regrets the decision.

I planning to relocate to Qatar, but hearing those comments I need to think again, from taxi service to getting housemaid (maid must be other nationality), Visa for Family it makes me crazy reading comment from QL. Here in Dubai there some procedure but not difficult. Government official to Police are very friendly and helpful. Hopefully Qatar should treat expats as part of their growth.

I was impress with the taxi service in Dubai. They follow the meter price unlike here- Meter shows 17 QR but they charge 25QR.

just tried it today but you cant say exactly tried it because i saw the meter and it said O and that meant outside doha and i asked the driver that it should be on I ie inside ....so he started shouted at me that this is new service and i am private driver not karwa and started using abusive language i asked him politely to drop me to nearest place so i can take karwa.still he kept on shouting then he started bargaining but i was in no mood so finally i got dropped off.

The biggest mistake i did was i did not note the number of taxi i should so that it can be reported.

i think these kind of activities should be reported and discouraged

i am not supporting any company for sure

"Dont know the way" is a lame excuse... to take wrong turn at roundabout and increase the bill.

There are GPS... even in phone... if taxi drivers do not know to use GPS they are unqualified to drive Taxi.

There is NO excuse... NONE.

Karwa Drivers regularly switch off their GPS for this very reason and say its not working...

I should save this thread for future updates when these nice and polite drivers get a taste of how to rip people off in Qatar.

I remember the same being said about the Karwa drivers a few years back...deja vu :P

of riding in one. The only comment i can make is that last Friday morning from decoration roundabout towards the Ramada Juction, one decided that he would try and cut me up and flash lights/honk horn etc. Anyway his number plate should you wish to travel with the uneducated sod is 3203. I have passed this to the police, thought that it may be better for me in the long run instead of ripping the ba@$#&%s head off... happy motoring.

we had tried this new taxi recently. as mentioned above, they are polite than the old karwa drivers. They show their respect to costumers not like the old karwa taxi drivers which are arrogant and this new million taxi, they are not choosing their costumers!

They charged us an extra 4riyals because they had two meters running. one is always 4 riyals and the other one start at 4 riyals.

This is way better than the ole Karwa Taxi's! i hope they'll maintain their good image though.

Looks like these taxi drivers were not trained properly before allowing them to drive around the city. Didn't know how to change lanes?...how were they able to acquire driver's license then?

Give it a try and give it a chance. they are like new kids on the block.

I wanted to talk about this topic anyway. Yesterday I took a Million cab from Lulu to just two signals away(Near Falcon Petrol Station). He did'nt know where mall round about is. He did'nt know how to change lanes. The lady behind honked like hell and showed her sour face through the window. Somehow I managed to reach my house..I feel pity for these drivers as they are very new to this place and desperate to make a living. Hope it goes well after sometime without too many casualities...

The taxi was new and clean. The driver was courteous and very obliging. He only took 10 Riyals, where Karawa guys take 12- 15 Riyals.

I welcome Million Taxi, with all its faults. Doha really needed a competitor for Karwa.

Better service than regular Karwa.. drivers are well behaved & much better..only hing..they just need some time to get familiar with all the routes in the city..rest all is good.

I've tried Al Million Taxi so far it was a good experience. The taxi was on time, there was a text from them prior to the agreed time and the name of the driver with the plates. The meter was on and the destination was plotted in their metering machine. But yes since the driver was new he was'nt familiar with where I was going so I have to tell the directions. Other than that I have no problem with getting a taxi from them!

there meter does not stop while in trafic unlike karwa which will stop and triple its speed once it's off trafic.that lead to high bill payment.
