ADSL SPEED HUGE PROBLEM
Hello everyone!
Maybe some of the IT gurus around here can give me a hint regarding the slow internet speed which I, along many other users (so called "Q-tel respected customers") encounter for some time now.
I am paying QR400 a month for a 2Mb connection with Qtel. The problem starts when I try to download anything from a website located out of Doha. Even though my real transfer rate should be at around 256KB/s (2Mb/s) it never goes beyond 55-60KB/s and...it feels ... I feel that I am paying too much for nothing. Can anyone explain what's going on?
P.S. I am very sure that my ROUTER settings are corectlly set up and I get 2Mb connection (verified with www.speedtest.net or www.speedtest.isp.qa) when I connect directly to ISP (Qtel servers).
Thanks in advance
Hamad
That is too much. But we have to check first the major aspects affecting the speed of your connection.
1. Check first your ADSL/Router for possible problem.
2. Check your PC/Laptop for potential spyware/trojan that caused the dizziness of your connection.
**It will be a big help for us also to determine your problem if you can post your PC specification and ADSL/Router Model.
By the way my connection is only 512kbps and I am happy for my 496 kbps connection. ^_^
actually it just happened recently probably on the 30th of January..
do you recall when this incident took place in the mediteranean? I am asking this because the slow speed that I encounter kills me every day for about 5 weeks now
thanks for your interest and kind replys

if you want my life, come and get it!
yes you are right there has been an outage of internet connection because of damaged undersea cables in the Mediterranean Sea, off the coast of Egypt. It was accidentally cut by a ship's anchor. Actually several Gulf countries as well as Egypt and India are experiencing slow internet connection because of this. i've read that the authoritites are working on it now but it will take about 12-15 days.. so just be patient. :)
There are some technical problem with the internet .
You might have not seen today's gulf times..
