Accident and Insurance Claims

I had a car accident on Wednesday (April 8). Unfortunately, the driver who hit my car has no driver’s license. When I got the police report the following day, the police required me to submit 3 quotations – not sure what the quotations are for but I complied. After submitting the quotations, the police told me to go to Mamoura Police Station for court settlement. I really don’t know what to expect in that court settlement but on the next day, I went to Mamoura police station… After reviewing my papers, the police officer told me to go to the other party’s insurance. Can’t speak Arabic so I didn’t bother to ask questions…Here’s the tricky part. I went to the insurance but I was told, they can’t process the claim because the driver has no driver’s license. Instead, they asked me to go to my insurance and they said, my insurance will be the one to communicate with them. There’s no problem with my insurance and my car was sent to the garage for repair.

Now, I want to ask some questions from anyone who has similar experience:

Is there anything else I need to do? If insurance do not pay when driver has no license; who pays for the repair then? Should there be any deductibles due depreciation of parts, who is supposed to pay that? Should I pursue an independent case to make sure the other driver will pay for any other expenses that the insurance will not cover?

Thank you, the-birdie...your info is helpful.

In my case, he has no license at all. But my insurance is already working on it. I'll wait and see what happens :)

recently my husband had the same situation. THe other party ( the Paksitani boy ) had not renewed the license, and his insuracne refused to pay. At last my husband went to Police officer , who was very cooperative. He took the other party car number, checked the whole database and found out the ID number,,,using the ID number he took the all memebrs of his family ( six people) who having mobile fone. Police called them and ORDERED to them settle the licence issue before SUNDAY or face consequences. The next day the boy came to our place to give his licence copy renewed

The police staion was not Madina khalifa, but the Airport Road Trafic police at E Ring road...

the issue settled, with the other partys insurance company bearing all expenses. If your car is not brand new, there is no problem. IF it is new and the parts are to be purchased from the original manufcturers, sometime, the insurance may give only a percentage
