Imagine if there was a small baby in the car that was hit! People need to drive more carefully, and the driving test here need to be more strict, not just get in a car, drive 100 meters and you pass!

the death of a 16 years old Qatari guy at the same intersection last October. He was with friends, all on bikes, doing stunts like in movies. Reckless and happy. They changed bikes at this intersection and sped off. Once we caught up with them, one was lying on Al Waab, leg torn off, the bike literally disintegrated. Only a wheel and zillions of metal/plastic shreds everywhere. ISF was there in no minute. Ploice couldn't control the situation so everybody drove through the accidents' scene... Was shocked for a week...

I just pray to God that the same thing Never happens to me especially as the chances are I'd have my baby boy in the car with me. Not enough is done to punish young drivers esp if they are locals.

Are you not taking a bit of a risk posting your employers videos onto youtube ?

If you have access to all the video clips on the network why don't you post some more examples of driving stupidity. I saw a few last time I was moi, it seemed the staff were compiling a greatest "hits" collection.

RED_POPE said "I wish the lamborguini got hit, the guy who drives it, is a speeder himself."

Is there something mentally wrong with you RED_POPE?

a) Just because someone drives a Lambo, they are a speeder you prejudice moron?

b) Really you despise Lambos that much that you would wish an accident and possibly injury/death on someone who drives one?

You are a proper headcase.

what is the age to get liecence officially in Qatar? at the other side, with or w/o they still drive n nothing change since i remember once my son friend came 4 a weekend visit by hisself on the driver seat. he was just fourteen!its not a x-box or playstation game.its not similar how you race while gaming with fingers.what do they really think abt it???they are still in pink world but on driver seat.so im afraid, age is a not valid factor in this point .and the parents who easly allow their KID to drive are need to be treated as well.

in my humble opinion,i have not seen a signalization yet, which warns by seconds.it counts till the light turns to red or green.what they call it dont know but statics said that it has a big role of reducing accidents.not related with this story but something really necessary in Doha.in my homeland almost all major signal lights have that system.

thanx God the other driver is alive.

I guess, if the Lambo was hit in the same fashion, the driver of the Lambo would have walked out unscathed. Lamborghinis' safety systems are pretty awesome.

The authority has decided to ban vehicles like lambo, ferrari, RR, etc on road because its distracting the 'racers' attention and that causing accidents :-p.. lol its for public' safety!...lols

Well its not facsim. Has any body seen the non expats standing for the driving license in Q's. I dont think so speacially the ladies. One can hardly see. So how are they getting their license. So its pointless no matter how many traffic voilation rules come out. Well cant say much as there is no freedom of speech here.

Alhamdulillah! .. thanks for telling us that the driver of that horrific accident is alive, ak_ujc. I thought mon_robles said he died...got pinned to the wheel.

Arien, "Come on - when you drive you drive.. sitting and praying on the driver seat??? go get a life dude.."

- We usually pray before we start driving. Sometimes during the journey, if in trouble but never taking our eyes off the road. It was how I lived because God protected me from that other idiot in Malaysia! The car I was driving at the material time was a tin can - my parents car - because I exchanged / gave them my car to use permanently which was a better one. The car I was driving was a total wreck but I lived. .. unless, of course, I'm writing this from the twilight zone. Good thing that came out of it - got a new car. This one is a cute little small one. Bad thing is I'm paying for 2 cars now hence my affinity to the church mouse.

UkEng - rumble strips - good idea.

I watched this video yesterday and got shock of it.

I know this driver, who was hit, personally and was able to talk to him. Allah blessed him that moment. He got only a scratch on his finger and nothing else. He explained situation this way:

He stopped in intersection by red light. Another car came from behind and hit him in very high speed. He said that he suddenly lost himself, good that there are safe air bags.

The driver who hit was a young boy between 13-15 years old, gave an excuse that he was in rush due to one of his relatives passed away.

The guy was a Local Qatari.....

I do not know how many Qataris use QL but please this should be " a wake up call" for Qatari Parents to stop allowing young teenagers to drive cars.

They should place small speedbreakers at Signals......and also 300 meters before one reaches the signal....to make it uncomfortable to speed at such important points or to wake up the asleep driver....

Seems like the guy fell asleep for a second while speeding....

The other car was kicked to the other side footpath like a penalty-goal-kick!!!

I don't get why the driver who caused the crash couldn't have pick one of the 2 other EMPTY lanes to speed through. He must not have been paying attention. Surely he could see the tail lights of the car sitting at the light.

انّا للہ و انّا الیہ راجعون

"Verily to Allah We belong, and to Him is our return"

This is one of the reasons I am afraid of driving in Qatar, although Indian traffic is considered worse in the world but it is still SAFE.

This is the reason why we must pray while in car, one beautiful prayer Islam teaches is "Allahum-mahfaznal Hadesaath, wa amwaatil hadesaath, innaka antal-khairul hafezeen" - "Oh Allah - Protect us from Accidents, and death caused due to accidents, verily You are the Best of Protectors"

@Kikomodos

Your theory is not looking valid, because of the lanes of gallardo and altima.

Condolences to the family of poor driver who lost his life.

By Kikomodos• 23 Mar 2009 22:37

First, the un-obvious thing here that we should take notice is that the video is a view from one of the cameras installed for jumping the red light and over-speeding on intersections, which means that while so many people thought that these cameras are only for still shots because of the flash, well now, it's clear that it is actually a 24/7 video cam.

Second, what the video may not have shown here (just a theory) is that the speeding car that hit the poor small car was trying to run after the gallardo after their first intersection. we all know that lamborghini only take a few seconds to reach from one intersection to another, and the driver of the speeding car realized so very late that his car can't compete with a lambo...especially the breaking power! so smash he went without control. =(

By singleguy• 23 Mar 2009 22:27

The greatest danger to your life here in Qatar are the idiotic drivers who speed, tailgate, and run red lights. I really do fear for my life when I'm on those roads and I'm a very experienced London driver.

express my anger over this stupid infact ridiculous driving of people here.... why cant the govt make the speedometers have a limit below 120 before importing the cars to Qatar.....Instead of these traffic voilation points & fines if the Govt here works over a little severe punishment may work.....Also the the sports cars shd not be allowed on normal roads but they shd have a diff place like speed zone for enjoying

it looks like night.. so most likely the driver was asleep or falling asleep.. it happens when you overtired, overstressed, overloaded with work, don't sleep properly.. I even know couple of real cases when drivers have fallen asleep and got killed in the bad accidents….that's why i am always worried till my hub comes back home safe, as i know he doesn't sleep enough, works too much...

that those fancy looking light posts along Al Waab, are messing up with our visions... they seems to be sending an illusory or somewhat dillusive visionary distractions. i dont really like personally those lamp posts... they looked awfully weird for me!!

and it's lighting side effect is much more magnified and highly dangerous when a driver is on a sleepy mode while driving.

seemed to me that the driver who hit is half asleep and hopefully gets to wake up alive after that mess...
