80 or 100

I have been using the C Ring Road for quiet some time now. The speed limit for the road surprisingly seems to be low at 80 kmph. Somehow, practically it is never possible for me to drive at 80 in the C Ring Road. The average speed is around 100. If I take a step further and try driving at 80, i am welcomed with all flash lights and honks.

I guess, either there should be a speed radar or the speed should officially be increased to 100 (which makes more sense since the road is not congested and are good 3 lane roads each side).

Drive safe. Live longer.

it was just a thought...i am not a left lane driver, and as much as possible i am trying to avoid that big cars lane even if i also have a big car.

maybe i just dont like how Zouheir raised his point on his second comment. :/

yes my friend yes..you have complete agreement from me..move only when safe for you and others..and if you are going left at the next signal, then please use your indicators to tell us so..i am a left lane driver too and i agree some people are way too aggressive when overtaking..just trying to help you deal better that's all:-)

C-Ring road driving at 87 km/hr. so I am inclined to agree with galloper. there is no allowance.

mohdata : very valid and good points. You are not entitled to block the left lane..it is for over-taking.

Mohdata It was out of anger coz I just hate people say things not right!!! The problem they argue.

I just have not damn idea from where they get their information...

i know...but as i said you also need to give time for them to move to the right and not pressuring him too much that might cause accident. and then what if that driver really needs to go left unto the next stop light? or what if its only a two lane?

its just a thought! and a sad reality.

Mohdata tell them!!!

Galloper, a friend of mine working with alkhwiya and other one in qatar police said and confirmed what I mentioned previously, always there's 10 to 20 set on the camera more than the road speed limit.

i agree with what you are saying; but maybe you should treat dwarfna with more respect. He/she is being nice/reasonable and there's no need to mention bank loans/ability/skills and other things. Please be civil and nice about things. Thank you.

yes move only when safe for you and others in the slower lanes. no one is saying you should immediately just dunk right..do so ONLY when safe. But start indicating right so the guy behind knows you intend to give way and are co-operating. i'm sure you understand how to deal with the whole thing as you yourself agreed with moving when possible. Just trying to ensure its as smooth as easy for you as possible:-)

please let me inform you; the left lane is a PASSING lane..even if you are 80/80, you need to move over for anyone behind you who is faster and wants to pass. The simple reason is ONLY the left lane is to be used for passing. If you do not move, the guy behind will have to pass in the right lane, which is also an offence. It doesn't matter if he's speeding. You still need to move and let the faster car pass. You can do 80/80 in all lanes; the overtaker can ONLY do it on the left. There is even an organisation/club of left lane drivers which deals specifically with annoying slow drivers who don't let faster cars pass. And, a friend of mine acted anal once and refused to move for a faster car..next thing he knew, it was actually a cop in his personal vehicle who fined him for obstructing flow of traffic..so please, do the decent thing and move over for faster cars here on. Not doing so only invites the flashing headlights and tailgating land cruisers everyone whines about.

i get what you mean, and it is undestandable that once you flash your lights it means you need to pass, but sometimes you also need to give time for those on the left lane to move to the right, and not always honking & flashing lights...it can cause accidents...

to the best of my knowledge there is no "tolerance" for speed cameras in Doha or anywhere in Qatar.

If the sign reads speed limit 80 then 80 it is!

If the sign reads speed limit 100 then 100 it is!

If the sign reads speed limit 120 then 120 it is!

By the way if I am already at the speed limit and there is no space for me to move out of the lane when you flash me, sorry!! I WON'T MOVE!

Regards!!

how can you say we never know how to drive when we are just following the correct road speed limit? how can you know if those who are on the left lane also has some emergencies but cannot go beyond 80?

i bet all those who were flashing lights are always on emergency as you were saying.

everyone have its first time, you also got your first time...but i guess first timers are a way more careful and follows rules compared to old ones. :)

80 at 80 stay on the right lane and leave the left lane. fyi speed limit is 80 so the radar definitely will be set at 90 or 100 but anyway always give road on the left lane for whos on hurry or even has np in getting radar ;/ do you know if I give you flash light on the left lane and you didnt move I have the right to report you. because you never know I might be having an emergency case some1 is dying in my car. I hate gcc who got the chance for some people to get car by bank loan when they never know how to drive. 70 % of the drivers in gcc its for the first time for them to drive ;/

either drive the way they are driving or take the right lane and leave the left lane for the speedy people maybe they are in hurry or have an emergency case. I really hate people who takes the left lane and drive very slowly when I am in hurry.

It is 80 and not falling under highway to increase the speed to 100.

i don't know what time you're driving on that road, but that is one of the busiest roads in doha..you could call it the jugular vein of the whole city..100 during rush hour is asking for accidents galore; check out the express-way parallel to c-ring for an idea of what im talking about..i too manage to reach 100 easy but do feel 80 is best anywhere inside the city.
