Stupid and careless driving. May the dead Rest in peace.

At least 31 people are reported dead in India after a bus carrying a wedding party was struck by a train at a level crossing. Stupid and careless driving. An express train collided with the bus at an unmanned level crossing in Patiyali, 250km (160 miles) south of the capital, Delhi.

The bus was returning after a wedding when the accident happened.

A local journalist said the train dragged the bus full of passengers up to 500 metres down the track.

People sitting on the roof were thrown off and seriously injured while those inside the bus were crushed, reports the BBC's Ram Dutt Tripathi.

Many of the injured have been admitted to hospital while efforts are continuing to free those trapped in the wreckage.

One of the injured told a local journalist that he had been sitting on the roof of the bus when he saw the train coming towards them.

He said he tried to warn the driver, who did not appear to hear him.

I didn't want to get all descriptive but here it goes  : When an accident of this nature occurs an investigation is a must. And should they find that it was due to the misdeeds/mistake of one or more people then those responsible need to be brought to the book, plain and simple.

without an investigation, how to know the facts?  Just saying prosecute the responsible is vague! From the TV news, it was reported that the bus stopped at the crossing (apparently).

There should be an accident investigation. If the railway is at fault, then the minister should take the blame. If its the driver, then his company.

From what i read this morning, the strange thing is that the government has already announced "compensation" for the victims.. So does that mean the Railway is to blame ?? I don't know..

Sad it is...hope those responsible are prosecuted. Such a tragic loss of human lives due to the carelessness of others'.
