2nd hand car buying procedures

Hi guys!

My husband is planning to buy a 2nd hand car because of this I want to check what are the procedures in buying a 2nd hand car in CASH BASIS here in Qatar.

Such as what are the documents needed by the seller & the one whose buying the car. How can the seller transfer the car in our name? (Deed of sale) And how many days or weeks will it take?

Do we still need to get some particular docs from our employer? Just like when u getting or applying for a car loan? Like no objection letter?

Do we need to go to traffic police office to get some requirements or docs???

Waiting for ur advises...

Thank you!

Noted & thanks for all ur advices. Anyway, my husband already brought the car yesterday & their on the process of transferring its ownership.

I checked the Traffic Police re this rules & i read there that the old & new owner of the vehicle should transfer & advise the Traffic office within 3 days of changing of ownership or else they will charge of QR500. Is this true? My husband still getting No objection letter from his sponsor now.

is this true???

If the car you decide to buy has a loan on it, then that loan has to be paid off and a letter to that effect issued by the bank. And the paperwork needed by the police station will also have to be signed by the loaning institution.

Point is, it make take another trip to get everything done. When you are looking at cars make a point to ask if there is an outstanding loan.

An observation of mine is that the best prices on used cars are directly from individuals. I have bought two used cars here. The car dealers have to mark up to make their money. Also, it is good to know who owned the car and how it was driven. You would rather have a car that was cared for and not abused.

Good luck.

You need an NOC letter rom your Company to be able to reigster the Car in your name, then you go together with the Seller to the Traffic Police and reregister the Car, Seller needs to have the Plastic Car for the CAr and the Insurance.  It's done in half an hour. The documents are done in Arabic and there are guy's outside traffic Police dep that do that for you for 10 rials. it's easy.

I recommend that you check out a lot of Car Showrooms before deciding, not only one dealer.
