2008 Terry Fox Run
Looking for a way to get out and enjoy the sunshine this March? Why not come and participate in this year’s Terry Fox Run? Set for Friday, March 14th, 2008, the run is dedicated to raising money for cancer research. It’s been 28 years since the runs namesake, Terry Fox, attempted to run across his native Canada in order to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. Fox undertook the run just 2 years after losing his right leg to a rare bone cancer. Unfortunately he fell just over 3000 km’s short of his goal when his cancer reoccurred and forced him to quit. Fox died 10 months later, but not before raising more then $24 million in his name. Today, the Terry Fox run is held annually in 50 countries and has risen more than $500 million world wide. This year the Terry Fox run in Doha celebrates its fifth year and last year attracted 2000 participants. So come out and walk, run, bike, blade or push a stroller. Donate a riyal, ten, or nothing. Come alone, with family or as an organization, and participate in this worthwhile cause. The run will commence at 2:00pm on the 14th of March, at Education City next to Qatar Academy. Registration starts at 12:30pm. All ages are welcome. For more information or to register check www.terryfoxrun.org or contact Mark MacIssac at 495 2080 or email [email protected].
