17 sentenced to death in UAE

DUBAI:

A court in the United Arab Emirates has sentenced 17 Indians to death over the killing of a Pakistani following a dispute involving illegal trade in alcohol, a newspaper reported on Monday.

The Sharia court in Sharjah, one of the smaller of seven emirates making up the United Arab Emirates, sentenced the men to death following DNA tests indicating involvement in the fatal stabbing, a UAE-based newspaper reported.

The sentence is thought to be the largest single number of people sentenced to death at one time in the UAE, a country dominated by the oil-exporting emirate of Abu Dhabi and its flashy but deeply indebted neighbour Dubai.

In the UAE, Sharjah is the only emirate where the consumption, possession or trade in alcohol is completely banned. In neighbouring tourist haven Dubai, known for its nightclubs and beach bars, it is loosely regulated.

According to the newspaper, three Pakistanis who survived the attack said that 50 people had assaulted them with knives. Those convicted men are 17-30 years of age, the newspaper said.

edifis,

That would explain the extermination of all the 17 men!

The identity of the man Killed was Sheikh Julius Caesar.

Britexpat,

That’s all fair when it’s the case. How about if you haven't done the crime and you'll not be given the chance to do the time but instead be exterminated?

How’s that sound?

17 people can be involved in the killing of 2, but it is extremely unlikely that all 17 have carried out the crime in equal share!

If you do the crime, then be prepared to do the time...

It is possible that 17 men can kill only one single man. It is also possible that an army equiped with most updated technologies shoots and bombs day and night innocent children and women.

its a bitter truth that a law varies according to the nationality in this region, but i've doubt if its varies according to religion.

Anti-american word? Try reading my post again . I said anti-USA "sentiments". Since it might be difficult for you to guess the meaning this might help :-

sentiment - an attitude toward something; regard; opinion.

So simple isale, 17 people killed 1 man. How ? Did they trample him to death or all 17 took turns stabbing him?

I feel sorry for these 17 guys.

Who on earth would believe that 17 guys killed one man?

Scary what can happen in countries like this one, where law is selectively applied and “enforced” by other expats under the control of untrained but powerful locals!
