After two years of successful events, TEDxEducationCity is coming back to explore the theme of “Revolution” on March 21 at the Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) Student Centre.
Six speakers will bring together a variety of topics such as politics, technology, arts and culture, education, spirituality, economics, and gender relations.
“Revolutions are often restricted to only a political definition and we wanted to explore alternative forms of revolutionary processes,” said Hessa al-Noaimi, one of the curators of TEDxEducationCity 2015.
“It can be as simple as redefining gender or as complicated as new advances in artificial intelligence,” she explained. Al-Noaimi, along with Tekla Gagoshidze and Noor al-Thani are the three co-curators of this year’s event.
The event is open to the public. Tickets are free of charge. One can register for a ticket and learn more about the initiative at www.tedxeducationcity.com.
TEDxEducationCity is a completely student-run event that has attracted an audience of more than 400 people in the past.
The event this year is sponsored by HBKU as well as the branch campuses of Education City, including Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar, Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar, University College London in Qatar, and Student Affairs Department in Texas A&M University at Qatar.
