Stenden University student in DSS Program
Dana Al Malki to Represent Qatar in the Eighth Edition of the DSS (Dubai Summer Surprises) Apprenticeship Program
14 of the brightest young minds from across the Middle East and North Africa to gather in Dubai on June 15th to participate in the coveted destination-marketing internship
Dana Al Malki from Stenden University will represent Qatar in the eighth edition of the award-winning destination marketing internship, a highly coveted component of the iconic Dubai Summer Surprises festival. This year the program welcomes its largest-ever group of winners from 14 markets including the UAE, KSA, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Morocco and first-time participants from Iraq and Sudan.
H.E Laila Suhail, CEO of DFRE said: “Congratulations to Dana for being such an inspiring representative of her country at this year’s edition of the DSS Apprenticeship Program. In her essay Dana suggested a strategy based on global expansion that closely mirrors our long-term strategy for the DSS Apprenticeship Program. We look forward to hearing more of her interesting ideas during her time with us in Dubai.”
The winners will each receive an all-expense-paid trip to Dubai, inclusive of return flights and a two week stay at The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management, one of the world’s leading hospitality business management schools, managed by Jumeirah Group, the global luxury hospitality company and a member of Dubai Holding.
In her winning essay, Dana Al Malki said: “It is not easy to improve an already successful event such as DSS, but if I were to be its Chief Marketing Officer, I would promote the festival in other areas not just in this region but also to European and Asian countries. This broader publicity campaign strategy targeting new markets will give the festival a huge boost in term of revenues, popularity and variety. Moreover, since summer is the time for children and parents to take a break, I believe that devising exciting family-related entertainment would be perfect while, of course, not ignoring the needs of single people and couples who will also travel to Dubai. Lastly, I suggest scheduling the entertainment in the evening out of respect for the sanctity of the celebrations during the Holy Month of Ramadan.”
