Escape the summer this year by taking advantage of Aspire Zone’s brand-new indoor fitness initiative ‘Splash and Dash’. The community-inspired program will enable residents to stay fit throughout the summer months by exercising at their own pace within the air-conditioned comfort of the magnificent Aspire Dome.
Residents will also have the chance to get prepared for the upcoming Aquathon and Trithalon series.
Additionally, top South African Open Water swimmer, Philip Emslie, will be giving residents the opportunity to take part in structured triathlon and endurance training sessions during the course of the progam.
Alongside the swimming clinics, he will also be available on-site to give out relevant tips and advice to participants. Emslie is a world-record open water athlete, and from 2002 to 2008 he also trained as a semi-professional triathlon team swimmer.
Aspire Dome’s Indoor Athletic Track and Swimming Pool will open to the public for recreational use every Sunday and Wednesday from 7:30pm – 9:30pm. The programme is open to men, women and children of all ages and athletic abilities.
Nasser Abdullah Al Hajri, Aspire Zone Foundation Corporate Communications Manager, said: “’Splash and Dash’ will enable the public to continue exercising during the summer. Residents will be able to swim, walk or run at their own pace.
The campaign also demonstrates our commitment to providing seasonal activities that encourage healthy living all year-round. It also highlights our dedication to creating the ultimate sports and leisure destination.”
‘Splash and Dash’ joins an array of other community-inspired activities on offer this summerincluding the Aspire Zone annual Ramadan Sport Festival.
The two-week sporting extravaganza, which is set to kick off on July 2, has grown substantially since its inaugural year in 2012.
The 2014 edition has been expanded to include 11 different tournaments including beach soccer, flag football and basketball.
