Aspire Launches New Community Portal 'Life in Aspire’
Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) Chief Executive Officer, Khalid Al Sulaiteen, launched a community inspired portal called ‘Life in Aspire’ on Saturday during a ceremony attended by senior AZF and other Qatari dignitaries.
The website www.lifeinaspire.qa was created in conjunction with the ‘Life in Aspire’ initiative and will serve as a community portal to the Aspire Zone. It comprises information about Aspire’s various activities and includes a daily guide, fitness tips, a family page and a bi-weekly newsletter.
Meanwhile this month, Aspire will host the inaugural ‘Junior Doha Jam’ competition, which is a three-on-three street basketball tournament set to take place on Friday 23 May. The competition will see 16 junior teams battle it out on the court for the champion’s title.
The tournament will be divided into two age categories, 12 to 15 and 16 to 18. There will also be a range of fun court-side activities for spectators.
Additionally, ‘Learn to Cycle’ is also a brand new initiative on offer at Aspire this month. Led by a group of trained instructors, children aged nine to 11 will learn how to ride a bicycle in a safe environment while discovering the importance of road safety.
‘Learn to Cycle’ will be held every Friday and Saturday until 31 May.
A number of ongoing activities are also set to continue at Aspire in May including ‘Community Kayaking’ where fully qualified instructors offer introductory courses to the water sport.
Catering to all abilities, the kayaking sessions are held at the lake at the Aspire Park and are open to residents aged 14 and above.
Additionally, the third series of Aspire Zone’s popular ‘Community League’ tournaments kicked off last week and will run until 6 June. The ‘Community League’ basketball matches take place between 3.30pm and 5.30pm at the Aspire Park Courts, while the football games run from 6pm to 8pm at the CCO2 venues.
Finally, during the summer Aspire’s public football pitches will open from 5.00am to 10.00am and 5.00pm till 10.00pm.
