Al Meera terminates responsible employee for Nuaija branch’s butchery violation
After the partial closure of the butchery in one its Nuajia Branch, Al Meera Consumer Goods Company (Q.S.C) embarked on an investigation into the violation and terminated the responsible employee.
The 1 month closure decision, effective as of January 12, came after the Ministry of Economy and Trade in collaboration with doctors from the Doha Municipality Health Control Department, seized an error in the display of the meat’s country of origin.
Following the incident, Al Meera embarked on an internal inquiry to inspect the violation, and was able to identify the employee behind it and immediately terminated his services.
Al Meera’s dismissal procedure was based on its keenness to follow the highest standards of safety and transparency in all its stores, in commitment to the law in the State of Qatar and respect for all customers in all branches.
Al Meera presents its deep apology to consumers for this irresponsible individual act, and pledges to conduct an overall review of internal rules and procedures, in order to prevent such mistakes in the future, by taking corrective steps to ensure the provision of high quality service to its customers.
The violation revealed by the Ministry of Economy and Trade,” entailed “the display and sale of Australian meat as meat from New Zealand" and "the display of Pakistani calf liver as a local production.”
Al Meera encourages consumers to report any irregularities they notice in any of its stores and to communicate with .the administration or the person responsible of the branch to hold the violator accountable for his deeds.
