Women have more sexual partners today
Today's young women have slept with three times as many men as girls of the same age in the so-called 'Swinging Sixties', known for mini skirts, the Rolling Stones and drugs, according to a study .
Despite the image of practicing free love, the average 24-year-old woman in the 1960s had 1.72 sexual partners. On the other hand, today's women of the same age have an average of 5.65 bed partners, which is more than her mother who is likely to have had 3.72 partners.
The study of 3,000 females of all ages, conducted by the chain Lloydspharmacy, comes as the chain voices fears of increased sexual health risks for women at a time when screening and better information should be reducing it.
A Lloydspharmacy spokeswoman said that cervical cancer rates in women under 25 have not decreased over the past decades despite better screening, possibly because of the greater number of partners, reports the Scotsman.
The chain is promoting a campaign for women to get a vaccine against HPV – the human papilloma virus – which is a sexually transmitted infection and a major cause of cervical cancer.
Report.
Surely this website QL is not run by a muslim, otherwise a muslim with a minumum modesty wouldn't have posted such a news.

Jack why are so interested in the cervix?
Drmana ...no other link?... :(
u got depth knowledge of this subject ;-)
Religion is very important in this subject... (Islam..Christianity, Hinduism..and all..)
Oh well, religion is into this topic now.
Out of here again :-S
Jack,here you go :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cervix
I am sure this pic is not very much interesting :-D
Western media is very powerful, and often the main driver is money rather than values based on sound moral principles and with their roots in religion. This essay deals with this topic in an objective manner to throw some light on this issue and thereby, perhaps, give some confused teenagers a clearer perspective of the choices that they can make.
1.Sex Education
1- Young adults are being infected with the HIV virus at an alarming rate. South Africa has one of the fastest growing number of infected people in the world; HIV/AIDS has reached epidemic proportions in this country. The age group that is mainly targeted is teenagers and young adults.
2- A devout mother, loyal to her husband, suddenly develops a sexually transmitted disease (such as syphilis, gonorrhea, herpes, or even HIV/AIDS); how did this happen? STDs have reached epidemic proportions in America, where 40 million people are infected with some form of STD.
3- Teenage pregnancy is on the increase; girls as young as 11 are getting pregnant-a child is pregnant with a child. Many teenagers are having abortions, which leads to emotional, physical, and mental side effects.
4- Girls as young as 10-12 are having unprotected sex, with devastating consequences. When questioned, these young children say, "No one told me that it is wrong."
5- Wonderful homes break up and end in divorce because the husband (or wife) was having an adulterous relationship; the main victims in this scenario are the children.
6- Females as young as 2 and as old as 80 are being raped.
7- Homosexuality is on the increase; acts of sodomy that were once considered an abomination against humanity, are now considered normal to the extent that gay marriages are being allowed in some parts of the world.
8- More and more relationships end up in hurt, depression, unhappiness, conflict, and regret.
2.Adultery
1- Marriage is a sacred relationship between a husband and wife. When either spouse has a sexual relationship outside this relationship, this is usually done secretly; thus there is breakdown of trust in the relationship.
2- The guilty party may contract a sexually transmitted disease, which can then be transmitted to the innocent victim.
3- The victim is usually the female. She has two options, either stay and ignore what the father of her children is doing, or ask for a divorce. If the woman does not have a source of income, she either has to return to her parents and thus be a burden on them, or eke out a living and thus raise her children in poverty.
4- Children are the innocent victims in divorce. They bear the brunt of the constant fights between their parents and grow up with emotional and psychological scars.
3.Fornication
Fornication (zina) means to have sex with anyone while not yet married; there are two types of fornication:
1- An unmarried person who has sex with another unmarried person
2- An unmarried person who has sex with a married person; in this case, it is fornication for the unmarried person but adultery for the married person
4.Marriage
5.Sex and Hygiene
6.Prevalence of Illegal Sex
In simple terms, the Islamic requirement is as follows:
1- Boys and girls should not have sex before they are married
2- Sex is only permissible between legally married partners
3- Within the arena of the marriage contract, sex is a sacred, private, and personal act between the married couple only; this means that the husband and wife should guard their "bedroom secrets" from all prying ears and eyes.
4- Neither of the partners is allowed to have sex with anyone else. This means that neither the husband nor the wife can indulge in the un-Islamic practices of wife swapping parties, visiting prostitutes, or having sex with another married or single person.
5- If the husband is legally married to more than one wife (up to a maximum of four) then he is legally allowed to have sex with all four wives provided that he treats all of them equally.
6- When in doubt about anything, use the Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to give clarity on any matter.
7.Role of Parents

b.Advice to a Preteen Son
8.Conclusion
Allah Most High has given mankind free will. We all have to make choices in life. However, life offers us a whole banquet of choices and delicacies that sometimes lead to a state of utter confusion or paralysis. What is the right decision?
Whom should I please?
What is fashionable?
Will my decision open me to ridicule?
Finally, a new generation of preteens is developing. It is our collective responsibility, as a community and a nation, to give clear guidelines to our youth. Our youth is our future and our destiny. May Allah Most High, Most Gracious, worthy of all praise, in His infinite wisdom and mercy, guide us, and our youth to a path that is straight.
I would like to see some diagrams....and pictures...can somebody help?
A religious girl never do that...I hope so.. :-(
Shameless Hussies... I still haven't had my ful quota then :O(
I was merely showing the socio-economic factors because of having multiple partners.
somehow I have a feeling that most of the studies to encourage promiscuous behavior is driven by those medical companies who are making vaccines/drugs/new product. Just imagine how much loss they will occur if that behavior is greatly reduced :p
Con2010, I don't know why you are posting about female anatomy here. Believe me I know what is cervix and vagina. Just because there are other causes doesn't reduce the importance of HPV infection and multiple sexual partner as cause in Cervical cancer.
Mr.M and Sherazi, I agree that marriage may decrease the problem regarding promiscuous behaviour but I don't support early marriage just because I believe that marriage should be done for no other reason other than love and one needs to be physically and mentally mature enough to get married.
By this, I rest my comments and leave this thread.
Good day everyone :-)
because we are encouraging prostitutes by our modern dress culture, giving change to be with others in the name of study or work and dance in the name of culturul programs and so on via media especially cinema and serial teaching each and every steps of prostitution
Oh well, I can't change the thinking process of everyone. I commented what I know as I know what I am talking about. I don't want to go into religious or social thing. I was talking with pure medical perspective.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
I would think that it will greatly reduce it.
I also agree that Education is the best tool. But that tool should be used in right direction. Sexual education is greatly misdirected. Although vaccines are saving lives but making it easily available, accessible encourage the other behavior.
Education should be directed to realize them that it is not a joke or test-and-trial kind of thing. Take your action seriously, otherwise there are consequences. The way I see, it is more directed towards dont worry do it we have a cure for that.
The vagina is a 3 to 4 inch (7 1/2 -10 cm) tube that at one end joins the cervix, the lower part of the uterus (womb), and at the other end opens onto the vulva, the external genitalia. The vagina is also called the birth canal. The vagina is usually in a collapsed state with its walls touching each other. The vaginal walls have many folds that help the vagina to open and expand during sexual intercourse
Cancer of the vagina, is a rare kind of cancer in women. In vaginal cancer, cancer (malignant) cells are found in the tissues of the vagina. The vagina is the passageway through which fluid passes out of the body during menstrual periods and through which a woman
The cervix is the narrow neck of a woman's uterus, found just above the vagina. Nine out of ten cervical cancers initiate in the surface cells that line the cervix. In some women, the healthy cells enter a phase called dysplasia. These cells are not always cancerous but they can easily become so. Dysplasia is most likely to occur in women ages 25-35. Women who began having sexual intercourse before the age of 18, have had multiple partners, have had several pregnancies or have a history of sexually transmitted disease are more likely to develop dysplasia or cervical cancer
flor that is what I have observed
I disagree with you as well Drmana, not all couples indulge in promiscuous activities and in fact, many are loyal and faithfull to their partners. In our muslim cultures, young people are encouraged to marry so as to avoid indulging in sinfull behaviour,as intimacy outside marriage in Islam is forbidden, and by young people i meant mature adults who know what is right and what is wrong in their lives, there is even a HADEETH or a religious teaching that encourages young, unmarried adults to get married.Enough said.
use of condom prevent STD's and so it is encouraged
Con 2010, cervical cancer and vaginal cancer are not one and the same :-)
But whatever you posted also puts HPV as the most important cause.
It is proven that infection with Human papillomavirus (HPV) can increase the risk for vaginal cancer. The human papillomavirus (HPV) is a group of sexually transmitted viruses. The risk for getting infected with these viruses can be controlled and reduced by conducting several types of responsible sexual behaviors:
Delay sexual intercourse and an active sexual life, especially if you are an young girl. HPV is more common among young women than in women over the age of 30.
Limit the number of sexual partners.
Avoid sexual contact with partners that are themselves engaged in sexual activities with multiple partners.
Do not trust condoms to protect you from HPV. Recent studies have proven that condoms do not protect against HPV infection, because the virus can be contacted through a skin-to-skin contact with an HPV infected area (such as the skin of the genitals or anal area).
However, there are type of vaginal cancer which are not related to the HPV infection, so this approach won’t entirely protect a women from not developing vaginal cancer, although it does help.
Another risk factor, that can be easily controlled and avoided, is smoking. Unfortunately, cigarette smoking has been proven to increase the risk for vaginal cancer. The two main approaches that can help are: do not start smoking if you are a nonsmoker or quit smoking if you are an active smoker.
Sherazi, does getting married early ensure no promiscuous behaviour ?
This vaccine is not to encourage promiscuous behaviour but save some life if possible. I don't see anything wrong in that. Thats why I said, education is the best tool.
Having 5-6 partners at the age of 24 !!!! wow that's a lot.
It is very funny that instead of resolving the main cause of issue most of the efforts are focused on after effects. This shows no respect to your partner, very choosy and no compromise.
Consequences are high divorce rates, parents left their children and socio-economic problem.
The after effects are high teenage pregnancies, single parents and lots of other thing.
I would think that lots of these issues could be resolve getting marriage at an early age like 18-24. It would'nt hurt if it is an arranges marriage, not that I am an advocate of that but it is an option.
Con 2010, no direct relationship has yet been found between the two but yes toxins has been found in cervical cancerous cells and thus smoking is more of considered as a risk factor rather than cause of cervical cancer.
As for immune system, it is involved in all cancers irrespective of cause.
As I said before, HPV is an established cause of cervical cancer and HPV infection risk increases with multiple partners. There is no denying the fact.
Smokers have more cervical cancer and toxins have also been found in cervical cancer cells. This suggests that enviromental toxins can play a role. Any kind of impairment of the immune system--such as AIDS--is associated with more cervical cancer. This indicates that the woman's own body defenses.
1.Cigarette smoking 2.Early sexual activity.3.Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).4.Human papilloma virus (HPV).
jackmohan, the rate is definitely high among them . The cause is not sex but the high risk of STD due to HPV. Not all of them get it though just like not all smokers have lung cancer.
You don't here much about Cervical cancer because it is one of those rare cancers which can be detected at an early stage and has cure. But it is very much fatal if not detected.
not necessary oer se. As the doctor says, many factors causing the cervical cancer andhaving multiple pertners increases the risk!
How can cancer be caused by sex?
By that theory ...ALL Commercial Sex Workers MUST have Cervical Cancer!
Con 2010, multiple partners is one of the established cause of cervical cancer . Multiple sexual partners is a risk factor for HPV infection which is the major cause of cervical cancer. But having said that, not all women with multiple partners have HPV infection or cervical cancer. There are definitely other factors involved but multiple partners and HPV are an important ones.
Drmana do you think this is the main reason of cervical cancer...Mean greater number of partners…it mean more than how many? NO…there have more reasons..
lol Mr M / just ma thoughts /that smileys looks a 3some ;)
I disagree Mr.M, if one is promiscuous....it need not stop after marriage. Many married people are promiscuous nevertheless. Marriage at early age is definitely not a solution. Educating them about these issues at proper time is the way to go. And vaccine is definitely encouraged to prevent Cervical cancer whatever the scenario.
Afrinnabees, you really don't have to comment after we see those smileys! :)
My apologies Drmana,i miss read it.I believe the only solution to all this racket is getting young men and women married as soon as possible, this would probably avoid all this promicious activities. What do you think Drmana?
No Mr.M, read the statement :"cervical cancer rates in women under 25 have not decreased over the past decades despite better screening, possibly because of the greater number of partners"
According to that report, women who sleep with a lot of men have a less chance of sufferring from crevical cancer!
ohhhhh no comments bcoze i m innocent
Maybe its because the population has increased....and more variety available...lol
nowhere in the post that it was meant to be. And how sure are you that the report was meant for such. Does Lloydpharmacy have no personal agenda since it's more on the business aspects rather than the education aspect? Just my opinion!
3000 women represent women all over the world today???
But no harm in getting vaccinated for HPV anyways.
This thread with the report published is not for character certification from the guys, but to make women understand to get the vaccine, even if they are not involved with mulitiple partners. The vaccine is expensive as i read but from one vial four could be vaccinated and cost could be shared. Those who are in home countries or going please enqiure with family Docs to get vaccinated. The deaths from cervical cancer is second to breast cancer. Guys stop offending comments please.
I doubtit very much!
BTW, what particular country/ies are we talking about here?
Lafanga I didn't say anything scandalous about married women here!
What I meant is also married women should be exempted from the list!
Oh misinterpreted that one but I will still stick to my comment. I have seen a lot of cheating wives in here.
Also married women in Qatar! (Include All Nationalities)
edifis I was trying not to offend some women but you said it mate ;)
Not only single woman expats here in Qatar Lafanga>> lol!
I think single women in Qatar will have an even higher ratio of the number of men they have slept with.
* I am talking about single expats
