India has a secular constitution and that means every religion and faith is equal. It is not a hindu country and we are still voting for the 'congress party' which is in power and suppose to favour secularism. Yes, in some areas BJP/VHP wins on the basis of its 'hinduatva' propoganda and influencing the mind of ignorant people but that does not reflect the mindset of learned open minded Indian. Mahatma Gandhi loved muslims and he was loved by most Indians for his secularism. (So is Abdul Kalam .....and the list may be exhaustive). May be we lack good leaders.

I think The RSS has very similar mindset to that of Emperor Aurangzeb. These type of elements should never be at the seat of power. I firmly believe that RSS can never come to power in a democratic way. And these type of mindset should be phased out very rapidly by the ruling party, if India wants to compete with the developing world. I/for that matter any educated Hindu will never say that RSS people are good Hindus, or they are doing their duty towards their religion. And even if the Shankaracharya says that RSS has done a good thing by attacking the minorities then he should be forcefully converted to Christianity or Islam and then tortured as a minority!

UK, Aurangzeb was the son of Shahjahan. And he was a very cruel man. He was indeed very powerful, but history books in India describes him as a bad king. He had both muslim and Hindu subjects. Infact most of his subjects were Hindus. But he was not very generous to the Hindus.

His first duty as a king should have been to protect his Subjects and to rule them in a just manner. Instead he tried to convert them by force. Was he a King or a muslim missionary? May be he was a good muslim, but that doesn't make him a good king.

But is this really what hinduism wants or is it a political party trying to increase its vote bank by tapping into the religious sentiments of ignorant people, I am not sure."

That which is pure is corrupted yet again by self-seeking people, to the detriment of the innocent. :0(

Yes, Eco he was pious and never used public money. However his 'spread islam by using sword' was not taken lightly by the hindu radicals and thus were born such organizations out of panic. Auranjeb is believed to give gold coins for every 'janeu - holy thread worn by hindu pandits' presented to him after converting them into muslims. But no doubt he was a great ruler and a disciplined one. He was the only ruler who had a time table of some sort and prayed 5 times.

ECO Aurangzeb was he not the father of Shah Jehan, who jailed him and also was involved in the murder of his three brothers, his son the poet was Bhadur Shah Zafar the last Mughal emperor of India before the British Raj?

funny enough I saw this name Aurangzeb in Doha Islamic Museum of Ismaic Art..

money in building Palaces/monuments. He lived very simple life, his income was by knitting (topis) caps and writing Quran

Didnt spend his time in creating love stories. There was no Ta ta taiyya during his rule

Out of all the corrupt Moghuls he was only one Pious muslim who followed the path of our Prophet (saws)

RSS is a hindu organization involved in protecting the hindu religion. During initial days the main objective was training young children in 'Yoga' and self protection with batons, which they still continue. But as always with any religious organization, it soon associated itself with politicians or vice-versa. They took the responsibility for killing 'Mahatma Gandhi' as the later was supportive of muslims during partition. Since India has been ruled by 'Mughals' some compassionate rulers like 'Akbar' and other staunch islamist who converted hindus into muslims forcbly like 'Auranjeb' - followed by the British rule during which chirstianity spread, the hindu organizations like VHP and BJP were born. The motive during its inception was quite innocent but these days they train the youth in handling arms and making bombs.

But is this really what hinduism wants or is it a political party trying to increase its vote bank by tapping into the religious sentiments of ignorant people, I am not sure.
