weekly political discussion group?
Hey Qatar Livers,
as much as I must first of all emphasise the tremendous job that my colleagues at the Qatar Tribune and other newspapers do at revealing the political landscape of the country that we now find ourselves, some of the most interesting (if sometimes dubious) information I've heard about local affairs has been voiced at expatriate social events.
Just like back home in Blighty, the media here is of course subject to restrictions over what it can and cannot publish. Nevertheless, I find myself thirsty for more information about what is happening around us, and I was wondering if anyone else felt the same.
Not many of my mates out here seem very bothered about political affairs, which is fair enough, and it may just be that this is the student union boy in me getting withdrawal symptoms from not attending any meetings, but if anyone would be interested in meeting up one evening a week to drink coffee and discuss Qatari and Middle Eastern politics, give me a shout.
