Say that again?
Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) Chairman in today's Peninsula:
'Asked his view on awarding major projects in the country to international companies, instead of local companies, Khalifa bin Jassim said, “We hope the government would make it mandatory for foreign companies to take Qatari firms as partners in their projects. There are many Qatari companies that are capable of competing with international companies in energy, infrastructure, tourism and other sectors.”'
Can anyone spot the contradiction in the paragraph above?
Why would companies capable of competing need to be mandatorily aligned with foreign companies if they are so competitive?
Both sentances in the paragraph are correct on their own, but to join them together renders the whole statement oxymoronic.
Anyway, I just thought it amusing and quite typical illogical thinking.
Qatari companies? They mean Qatari companies run by Indians and other Arab nationals and foreigners :)
The journalist may have cobbled together a number of quotes from the QCCI chairman without regard to context and thus fashioned together this contradictory paragraph
