i never said anything about just sitting back and watchin as if this is an action packed film,,, what im saying is, more than anything else, an answer to this conflict is a solution that would assure long term serenity to both states, one that will not branch out to another conflict after a few months/years or so...

Each country looks at its own benefits first. The oil producers are in no position to dictate terms since oil is at a low price. Lastly, if they got too aggressive, then the Big Dog may bite. Something they do not want to happen.
so you want to solve an atrocity with another one?
like what i said on the other thread, even in the middle of such barbaric violence, one should stick to their sound mind. (amidst the overwrought- PM)

or perhaps, he is becoming more rational, there's always a more diplomatic way in dealing with this Israel/Palestinian war, a method that is long term in nature and one that doesnt result to further turmoil. i just hope Saudi has the plan of helping gaza/palestine (financially) rebuild itself once all this is over.,

The oil producers "need their abilities to build their countries from this resource (oil)," Prince Saud said.
"If they are going to make themselves ready to face any actions against them, they need that resource to build their capabilities," he added.Unqoute

SR167m raised in Kingdom
JEDDAH: A nationwide fundraising campaign ordered by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah for Palestinians in Gaza has so far raised SR167 million, Saed Al-Harithy, supervisor of the campaign, announced yesterday.
Al-Harithy said the amount does not include the value of non-cash donations made by Saudis in terms of jewelry, foodstuffs, medicine, tents, clothing, blankets, etc. He also praised donors for their excellent response.
He said Saudi Arabia has sent several relief planes and trucks for the Gazans, adding that the relief supplies have reached Gaza for distribution among the victims of Israeli bombardment and gunfire. More funds are still required to rebuild hospitals, schools and other vital infrastructure in Gaza.
The Kingdom has so far dispatched 10 relief planes carrying a total of 120 tons of medical supplies. The planes were received at Areesh Airport in Egypt by Saudi officials for distribution.
Under the Kingdom’s relief program, more than 270,000 Gazans will receive foodstuffs for a month. “We have given top priority for the distribution of foodstuffs among the Palestinians in Gaza,” Al-Harithy said. “We have contacted international organizations to send more doctors and medicine to Gaza,” he added.
Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, secretary-general of the 57-member Organization of the Islamic Conference, denounced Israel’s massacre of civilians, was referring to the killing of 43 Palestinian children and women who had taken refuge in UNRWA schools in the occupied territory.
The OIC chief said the attacks were war crimes and that the perpetrators should be made accountable.
Also yesterday, Abdussalam Al-Abadi, secretary-general of the International Islamic Fiqh Council, condemned the Israeli aggression.
Just would like to add that Saddam used to pay money the families of the so called martyres if he/she would turn human bombs

You must all understand that Gulf arabs WILL NEVER FORGET that Palestinians were pro-saddam (during Kuwait invasion they cheered & and the one's among us even express their support publicly). What makes Hamas any different from Alqaida? Both believe in Islamic state & distributing the oil wealth among all arabs
So, who is biggest threat Hamas or Israel?
so what if Eco gave his suggues good intention sugguest atleast he purposed his view to save innoncent ppl unlike those of you who are enjoying and critisizing...
I have to agree with the comment about the camps, and I also agree with PM that the cause is one of convenience. There will never be an oil embargo, plain and simple. If this region cannot stand up for its own people I dont know why everyone is getting miffed with the west for not standing up for the Palestinians. Dont get me wrong, I in no way support Israel or any country that supports them, just the opposite.

Eco-Savvy, common' don't be shy...
say something...
You said it in a nut shell. Period.
This is probably why you or I are not in that position :)
i know that they have gotten themselves into such a position that they cant say anything againt or act either, if they actually do the oil embargo thing they will lose their own countries. so they are proctecting themselves by saying no........... but if i were in their position i would act and lose it rather than stand back and do nothing.

business is business..In the same position, what would you do ?
resources to build themselves againt the agressors, what have they done with the wealth earned so far, a life of excess and degradation. want to earn these so called muslim monarchs are not more than the slaves of the jews, licking at their asses for their own protection.
I had to read that line twice. Stating that makes the Prince somewhat insensitive in light of all of those that are suffering.
Was that a 'priceless' comment or a pricey one?
People forget: Money talks and (everthing else) walks.
Is it not true that some Arab countries keep their Palestinian brothers in Camps and they are not allowed to work..?! There are many who suffer in these camps and have no rights as humans beings.Where is the compassion for these people? There are many Arabs out there who would love to send all the Palestinians beck to Palestine.Really, all it takes is a cut in oil export for a week and then there will be action.
Anyone was caught by surprise?
As it was stated, cutting suplies will not only hurt consumers but also producers.
I also think that the best contribution from Arab countries would be to form a collition with other countries and help U.N. to control the borders.

Only a few days ago Eco-Savvy was proclaiming:

Makes you wonder.
I thought this line was priceless though:
"How can you do that? You stop producing oil in order to put pressure on people and you suffer as much as anybody else suffers," Prince Saud noted.
So much for 'solidarity'. Maybe someone needs to buy this guy a dictionary. I guess what he is saying is that the Gulf States should do everything they can to help the Palestinians, as long as it doesn't have any negative impact on Gulf states.
Of course the Saudi's are NOT going to cut oil exports to European or American backers of Isreal!
Not only would it be "shooting themselves in the foot," but in the pocket book as well!
Get a grip Iran! These are business men FIRST and foremost. Period.
LOL, fire in the hole!
