I don't fully agree with the lie only when harassed theory... this is an online forum... people pretend to be all kind of things... Even Qatari, the owner/admin of the site is not Qatari and his profile sez so... why judge someone by their profile? let it be... its all part of the online personality phenomenon...
My dear brothers and sisters, please read this poem and try to assimilate it in your spirit of Indianness. We need to be a one man army to succeed in life. Don't think what flaws are there in your country, just think how you can make it better.If your mother is poor, ugly and sick; still she is your mother and dearest than any other woman.
Verisimilitude... I can understand the intention about not putting ones correct profession & age..... about wrong sex (and if just limit it to QL for the sake of argument) can be viewed as credibility issue, but still someone wants its upto him/her... as regards the associated fun with it, we are already having certain noises regarding the sex of two users...Misskeen and Exotic Girl 2.... and if u were following what happened on the thread of Miskeen specially on the 4th page (it seems it is all deleted now) u may tend to agree with me on it. Now coming to wrong nationality... I cannot think of any good reason for doing that until u are at a place or in circumstances where making ur nationality known can lead to some kind of harrasement or any such situation which one could avoid by doing so... but otherwise hiding it I cannot think of any reason... would like to know from u though any good reason for it, just to educate myself and be prepared for it if faced with such situations, seriously.
I tend to disagree with you on the nationality on profile thing...
you are taking it way too seriously... not putting your right nationality on the profile has nothing to with your patriotism or pride of your nationality
People sometimes don't put their right professions on their profiles... it doesn't mean they are proud of what they are doing... some people even put the wrong age or the wrong sex... it is a matter of their personal choice and discretion... it all adds to the fun
lol PM...but not only him (I am not sure whether by saying this I landed myself in some trouble now)...I know there are others too... and as I said that makes me sad...
nationality as Wallis and Fortuna Islands. Now there is no way he is really even a passport holder from there but he chooses not to list that he is Indian.
As far as the OP here goes, I assume he is an Indian from Mauritius, as I have met 2 Mauritian Indians here in Qatar and I know there are quite a few Indians in Southern and Eastern Africa. I just assumed that was the case here, but could be wrong.
PM...true u are....but my post comes from the fact that many here in Doha (on QL to be precise) though holding only Indian passport or Indian passport as their first passport state their nationality mostly as Qatar or some other country... and that really makes me sad.... and so the speech... ________________________________________
Aren't their Indians that hold other nationalities? Does taking nationality mean they are no longer Indians? Just asking because I thought that Indian culture tends to stay with you, regardless of where you may go in the world.
Shajiv....I will say loud with you that we are Indians...but for that u need to change your nationality in ur profile to India... if u are an Indian and proud to be one...else the third line of ur post has no meaning... sorry to say this on such an important day but then this should also be the day to make ourselves independent of our mindset to feel suppressed to be known as an Indian....

THE BRIDGE BUILDER
An old man, going a lone highway,
Came, at the evening, cold and gray,
To a chasm, vast, and deep, and wide,
Through which was flowing a sullen tide.
The old man crossed in the twilight dim;
The sullen stream had no fears for him;
But he turned, when safe on the other side,
And built a bridge to span the tide.
“Old man,” said a fellow pilgrim, near,
“You are wasting strength with building here;
Your journey will end with the the ending day;
You never again must pass this way;
You never again must pass this way;
You have crossed the chasm, deep and wide—
Why build you the bridge at the eventide?”
The builder lifted his old gray head:
“Good friend, in the path I have come,” he said,
“There followeth after me today
A youth, whose feet must pass this way.
This chasm, that has been naught to me,
To that fair-haired youth may a pitfall be.
He, too, must cross in the twilight dim;
Good friend, I am building the bridge for him.”

britexpat he was one of millions of Indians who never saw a british in their lifetime, despite 100 years of british rule.
It justy shows how a few British controlled India through "indians" who were willing partners to the occupation.

Am not sure why anyone doesn't list their real nationality, but it's not uncommon.
