Man jailed for assaulting maid

A man who hired an Asian housemaid and sexually assaulted her has been sentenced to 10 years jail by the Abu Dhabi Criminal Court. He has also been ordered to pay her a sum of Dh200,000.
The lower court’s verdict was upheld by the Court of Appeals as well as the apex court.

When the man visited an Asian country, he came across a young girl who had a special charm. He offered her a job as a housemaid and tempted her with several other offers. The girl and her family accepted the offers and accompanied the accused to Abu Dhabi to work as a maid in his house where she could stay with his wife and children.

As soon as they reached the country, instead of taking her to his family home, he took her to a hotel in the outskirts of Abu Dhabi and sexually abused and locked her up in the hotel for several days.

He raped her several times and then drove her to the desert where he stopped the car and once again assaulted her sexually.

He then took her to the house of an Arab man who worked for him, and told the man’s wife to keep the girl with her until he came back a few days later.

Finding the young woman sacred and worried, the worker’s wife asked her what was wrong. Upon the woman’s insistence the young woman disclosed everything.

The woman related the happenings to her husband, the worker, but he said he was helpless as he worked for the accused.

Taking things into her hands, the worker’s wife confronted the accused and asked him to rectify the wrong he did. He told her that after a medical test, if the girl was found to be pregnant, he would marry her; otherwise he would send her back to her homeland.

The housemaid was found to be pregnant, but she rejected the marriage offer despite being a poor and simple girl. She refused to get married to the man who had offended her dignity and honour.

In court, the lawyer of the accused made a waiver reading that her allegations were not true and forged the young woman’s signature.

However, the worker’s wife defended the victim by giving her testimony. The judge believed the woman, but waited for corroborated evidence to substantiate the housemaid’s claims. Luckily, the judge found the signature to be forged. Also, the waiver allegedly claimed to have been signed by the victim was predated to when she gave her testimony before the public prosecution.

The judge wondered why the lawyer had not produced such a waiver until after the girl had travelled back home.

The court thus handed the man jail and ordered him to pay the victim compensation.

It's strange that though the decision has been made by the court, the arrest of the person in question is yet to be taken place.

Although, it sure, is going to happen very soon.

This monkey is really a nice chap. He desperately tries to grab the attention of the people, but when people do not respond, he starts criticizing other people. I really feel bad for him, but not so much anymore, because he still manages to get quite decent responses from people like Doha Rocks and Good old Joe. The best way to put a stop to his interruption is to completely ignore his criticism.

To the shariah law would be a death sentence for the rapist, it's still something better than nothing to see this beast punished. May Allah bless the unfortunate wife, who had the courage and righteousness to support the victim..Aameen.

How would things have been had it been a male from another Asian country visiting Abdu Dhabi and bringing a woman from over there and then raping her. Would the long arm of the law not have stretched out to pluck the man from the core of the earth and hang him in public? What a difference.

Justice Justice & Justice

Compensation amount is about the penalty for the crime he did; it may benifits to the lady in some extent but it doesn't bring her back to the same stage.

10 years prisonment is not enough.

the 200k dirhams is good, it will help for the rehabilitation of that young girl..

but for 10 years imprisonment i think its not enough..

in most Asian countries the penalty of rape is death..

we had one executed through lethal injection..

also if cought with any narcotics the penalty is death aswell, execution for some countries..
