I know what you posted, you did so in the right spirit.

I looked up your age and found you're not so young. You should have shown more maturity.

So many people talked of so many great things about our Motherland, others (some knowingly, others unknowingly) derided it but none of you...

...not one of you brought up the name of Gandhiji or Mother Teresa.

Where is your humility?

What erks me is this just keeeeeppppppps coming up...why do you all have to keep beating your chests? Let someone else applaud you for a change. And this is not just on QL. Iv had people from India leave these "earth shattering" statistics on my desk. Are you disgruntled because you feel Indians aren't given the respect "they" deserve? Well, this is not exactly the best way of earning it. Give it a rest already.

India has the world's second largest labour force, with 516.3 million people, 60% of whom are employed in agriculture and related industries; 28% in services and related industries; and 12% in industry...

With an estimated population of 1.13 billion,[8] India is the world's second most populous country...

India is the second most culturally, linguistically and genetically diverse geographical entity after the African continent.[50] India is home to two major linguistic families: Indo-Aryan (spoken by about 74% of the population) and Dravidian (spoken by about 24%). Other languages spoken in India come from the Austro-Asiatic and Tibeto-Burman linguistic families. Hindi, with the largest number of speakers,[97] is the official language of India.[98] English, which is extensively used in business and administration, has the status of a 'subsidiary official language.'[6] The constitution also recognises in particular 21 other languages that are either abundantly spoken or have classical status. The number of dialects in India is as high as 1,652.

Over 800 million Indians (80.5%) are Hindu. Other religious groups include Muslims (13.4%), Christians (2.3%), Sikhs (1.9%), Buddhists (0.8%), Jains (0.4%), Jews, Zoroastrians, Bahá'ís and others.[100] Tribals constitute 8.1% of the population.[101]

India's literacy rate is 64.8% (53.7% for females and 75.3% for males).[8] The state of Kerala has the highest literacy rate (91%);[102] Bihar has the lowest (47%).[103] The national human sex ratio is 944 females per 1,000 males. India's median age is 24.9, and the population growth rate of 1.38% per annum; there are 22.01 births per 1,000 people per year.[8]

Sorry dude, I do not agree with you on the fact that these guys(whose percentages u've given) are the excess(surplus) manpower after the country's needs have been fulfilled. I would say its the other way around.

I do not understand why my 'confidence',of all the things in the world, is coming under question here. We are debating an issue and y do u have to get personal and talk abt me n my confidence? My confidence doesnt have a d**n thing to do with what is being discussed here!! Why cant u see the topic and the person as different entities??

No one's talkin abt ignoring Newton or past discoveries. The question is abt building the future and how precisely are these things that were achieved long back, of course on which a lot of modern science is based, i would nt disagree, going to help us??By gloating on it??

Also that thing abt Sanskrit in Forbes magazine of July 1987, have u tried verifying it? I suggest u do some research on that. Also, navigation in Sindh 6000 years back?? I've read tht the civilisation is that old, but dont remember reading about anything abt their mercantile history!

The Ganges has held India's heart captive and drawn uncounted millions to her banks since the dawn of history.........why do they crap in it all the time then?

Yes I will give the links,

It’s not because of lack of opportunities. India got enough qualified persons to fulfill there need and the excess manpower in the country they are finding jobs outside and earning for there self and country. India never face a problem of skilled manpower.

You have purchased one computer but you don’t know how to operate it, then you have to hire someone from outside. That’s proves your weakness. Why you are not only one side of this side of the issue. First be confident on you also your country.

We can’t forget our past, hope you wont like to hear your for fathers are beggars. Sir.Isaac Newton lived from 1643 to 1727 .Newton laid the foundation for differential and integral calculus. His work on optics and gravitation make him one of the greatest scientists the world has known.

Can you ignore him by telling he has done his discoveries long back in the 16th century?

what I do not understand is why the percentage of Indians working in Xerox or NASA (wonder who compiled those stats, got any credible reference to site??)should make an Indian proud??What it shows is Brain-drain and lack of opportunities in their own homeland which made them go elsewhere.

Also all those things that happened milleniums ago, would it benefit any of those millions who cant have one square meal a day?

Ofcourse the country is booming and will progress n all that but all these things written here are yesterday,a past that 'was',long ago.

Who dares,wins!

the list needs be added

500 million in poverty

thousands sleeping the streets

too much honking

neglected classes

too much rape cases.

1 billion people, this is alot

fail the exam, commit suicide

women pay for her marriage

naked men worsshiped. and any more

this is also what you stand for, india is a fantastic country with so much to be proud of and so much to shy of.

those figures are to be expected purely on the merit that indians constitute 1/6th of humanity at over 1.2 billion.

When I see that article, I felt its interesting, and most of the information’s in that article are new to me. So I posted it I did not made any change, I just added the complete article.

Once I posted, I saw some related posts, and I never expect this much controversies and criticisms.

I feel that I never done some crime, but some narrow minded persons took it in wrong sense, I ignored most of them and responded to someone who crossed the limit
