Doha 2016

Doha was not selected... human rights records did play crucial role in the final decision.
Maybe if labourers conditions of life here and salaries would improve significantly, Qatar would be respected worldwide.... otherwise.... it gets what deserves!

The bid for Olympics 2016 remind me the final football match between MU and Chelsea. Money makes a lot but doesn't all!!!

Qatar wants everything in one time. It seems to me that Qatar is bite more than can chew!!!

I agree why should a person be paid on the basis of their pasport and not their skills

the case, the political correct reason given, the fact is that this superrich nation is been build over the blood of slaves.

Look outside at any construction site and the fact is there, with every single worker in this "nation".

I would be shocked if the Olympic committee would pick Doha!

My frustration is that none of this is exposed to the world and nothing is done to fight for the rights of these abused souls!

:(

Totally agree

The totally relaxed attitude of the locals to service and their attitude of superiority is not conducive to such a international event.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced today that Chicago (USA), Tokyo (Japan), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), and Madrid (Spain) have made it on to the shortlist of cities bidding to host the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Candidate Cities were accepted unanimously from seven Applicant Cities, which also included Prague (Czech Republic), Baku (Azerbaijan) and Doha (Qatar)*.

“All the bids were of a very high standard,” said IOC President Jacques Rogge. “It is a tribute to the health of the Olympic Movement that the field was so strong. I congratulate the Candidate Cities and I hope that those cities which were unsuccessful this time have benefited from the process.”
