Corruption in India

India’s Textile Minister Dayanidhi Maran offered his resignation to the Prime Minister on Thursday (July 07) for his alleged involvement in the 2G Spectrum case.

Pressure mounted on Prime Minister Singh after a government lawyer told the Supreme Court on Wednesday (July 06) that police were probing the role of Maran in the telecom graft case.

It is alleged that Maran as a telecom minister, manipulated the 2G sale in favour of companies to which he was linked.

Another former telecom minister A Raja and several business executives are in jail pending trial in the case.

Congress party-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Union government is mired in a series of scandals. Corruption scandals in UPA-II have hit policymaking.

As per Reuters in 2007/08 alone, such violations may have cost India $ 39 billion in lost revenue, a sum equivalent to annual defence budget, the state auditor has estimated.

India has no oil and the gold they have found will not make a difference to them or the West. India can handle itself very well :-)

Year 2011 seems to be "year of corruption",  at this rate, how many more are likely to come up in future is next to be watched. Its a shame on these stupids to loot public money and coolly go scot free. India is not only good in producing computer software experts, equally good in producing corrupted guys too. No doubt, if at all there's any world cup contest for corruptions, sure, India will lead the table in line with cricket.
